Level: Easy
Total: 3 hr 30 min

Yield: 46 cake pops

Ingredients

  1. One 15.25-ounce box yellow cake mix, plus required ingredients
  2. 1 cup vanilla frosting, plus more as needed
  3. 20 ounces white candy melting wafers
  4. Sprinkles or cookie crumbles, for decorating, optional

Instructions

  1. Prepare and bake the cake according to the package directions for a 9-by-13-inch pan. Let cool completely.
  2. Break the cake into pieces and place it in a food processor. Add the frosting and process until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the bowl, about 30 seconds. If the mixture doesn’t come together, add more frosting 1 tablespoon at a time until it holds its shape.
  3. Using a 3/4-ounce scoop, form the mixture into 46 balls and put them on a baking sheet. Refrigerate until firm, about 30 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, place the candy wafers in a microwave-safe bowl and melt according to package directions. Dip a half inch of the tip of a lollipop stick into the candy and then stick the tip halfway into a cake ball. Repeat with the remaining balls and sticks. Refrigerate the cake pops until completely chilled, about 1 hour.
  5. Microwave the candy again until melted and pour it into a tall narrow glass. Dip each cake pop into the candy and let any excess run off. If decorating, turn the cake pop upright and sprinkle with sprinkles while the coating is still wet. Stick the finished pops in two 9.8-by-11.8-inch Styrofoam blocks block and let set completely.

If you add 1 tablespoon shortening to 1/2 bag of chocolate wafer melts the chocolate will be thinner and won’t make the cake pops fall off the stick. Otherwise good recipe.

Amazing directions! I can’t happen to notice that everyone is saying that the cake keeps falling off of the stick. The are multiple reasons why this may be happening, I think your cake is falling off the stick because you put too much cake into the balls. Your cake pops shouldn’t be as big as a golf ball, they should be like a quarter (money wise). I hope this help with your situations!!!

These are so simple and easy i dont understand how some people in reviews messed them up, maybe stay away from baking

I can’t even stick the sticks into the cake.

Great party pops!

I wanted to make just a few of these so instead of using a whole box of cake mix and a tub of frosting I used a box of Betty Crocker Mug Treats. The cake cooked in the microwave and one frosting packet was enough to form the cake balls. One box of mug treats yields about 12 cake balls.

they look good ,can you get the recepy for you

I tried this and could not get the cake to stay on the sticks. I ended up making cake bites instead of pops. The recipe is good and a hit with my friends/family but the sticks are crazy hard to make stay. Just make bites.

I tried it and my pops kept coming off so I think they need to sit for a longer time when cooling.

Well, first it’s a good recipe but I lost a lot of pops just trying to put the sticks in. Second, I think they need to sit in the fridge for a longer period of time!!
