This was amazing but I decided to use flora butterly butter, mature cheddar cheese and ground pepper and garlic. This dish was really nice but also quick and easy to make. My sister who Is very picky is eating it and that isn’t what normally happens. Thank you allrecipes 🙂
Been making this for years, but never get the propotions right on butter to pasta. Also I never stirred the cheese into it, just put it on top. This recipe is great, thanks for letting me now make it perfectly every time!
I add lots of ROASTED FRESH MASHED garlic- fresh chopped vasil and add a touch of red crushed pepper flakes Plus – I make my own noodles 100% semolina flour with a little Ap flour mixed in..
This recipe is simple and tasty, but I prefer to lightly brown my butter in a small amount of olive oil before adding it to the pasta. Depending on my mood, I might add some chopped garlic to the butter as it cooks.
I used spaghetti, broken in half. So who hasn’t eaten pasta with butter before, sounds so basic that no one would need a recipe BUT what I did was browned the butter first, then added it to the bowl of spaghetti, followed with salt and pepper. I just sprinkled a bit of parm as needed, to my plate to taste as I was eating. The ‘browned’ butter is really what made this amazingly good. The flavor of the butter and those brown bits were sooooo good.
This is pretty much the recipe that I have used since my daughter was young. Now I care for her twin 8 year old boys–they love it and want it often.
Yes I did make changes
Prepared according to directions and now it’s one of our favorite side dishes.
My family enjoyed the buttered noodles. I added some garlic powder, bits of bacon and a hand full of spinach. Next time I will boil noodles in the larger pot and and use about a cup of the noodle stock when adding the ingredients to the noodles.
My mom made these all the time when I was a kid. She sauted chopped onion in a separate pan as the water boiled and then as the noodles cooked. She then tossed the cooked noodles in the butter with sauted onion, added salt and pepper. We loved them. I still do this for myself sometimes. The parmesan wasn’t part of it when I was young but as an adult it is an amazing addition.
Added 1 tablespoon minced garlic and 1/2 cup of shredded Parmesan cheese. Absolutely delicious. Will make this again frequently.
Adding parmesan is just too limiting. Experiment & have fun. A few things I have tried and liked in place of parmesan are: -cinnamon & sugar -Taco Bell mild sauce [use sparingly; a couple of packets is all you’ll need -Velveeta [maybe with a little milk to keep it from being too sticky] various spices such as chopped onions and/or garlic -I’ve even tried adding a little mayonnaise to keep it smooth and “slippery.” -All these ideas are fast and easy. Again, play with it a little.
I often fry them as well. Such a versatile recipe. Endless possibilities. I have shared this with lots of people.
I too have been making this recipe for years. I love the simplicity of it. It isn’t boring. It’s gently comforting. I’ve sometimes added the hot pepper flakes or an egg but I’ve never wanted to junk it up w/ too much stuff. And as for those reviewers complaining about the necessity of this simple recipe, remember not everyone is a cook. A little help isn’t here to insult you. It’s here for those who may need it. Plus, getting the butter measurement wrong can wreck the dish.
I added a little of chicken broth if you want it a little saucier when I added the powdered garlic. Topped it with shredded parmesan cheese. This is a great side for any meal or make it as a main with a tossed salad.
I have been making this for years . This is nothing new to me and my kids.
Mizithra cheese grated and addedwith browned butter is another way to fix this and is the bomb. Spaghetti Factory has this and this is how I learned to prepare it. Helps to add a little water the pasta was cooked in.
I grew up in a Slovak family and buttered noodles were served often. only difference was we stirred in cottage cheese, instead of parmesan, until blended with noodles and then added browned butter with salt and pepper.
Instead of parmesan use cottage cheese.
Good recipe as written. It’s the same way I make mine. But to make it EXTRA tasty I always brown my butter. It gives the noodles an extraordinary taste!! Half of the time I omit the Parmesan.
I love buttered noodles already but this recipe is the bets one i have ever used
