Love the recipe for a traditional Buffalo Wing Sauce. This is a gift for my wife’s best friend, she loves sauces of all kinds. Particularly This sauce, we added a natural emulsifier (honey)to do just that and to cut the heat a bit. It tastes great and you to can tweak your ingredients to make it your own. I love traditional recipes and try to stick to the ingredients listed. In this case Honey was added to make an adjustment requested by the recipient. I will say I tested before and after the addition and they both rock. Thanks to all involved in posting a great recipe to allow communities all over to enjoy a taste of Buffalo N.Y. in our homes.
This is my go to recipe…. buuut the biggest complaint I have is that it’s too thin. Is there a way to thicken it up to make it more of a sauce than a soup? The flavor is amazing though. Also I don’t like Frank’s. I actually find it tastes better with the store brand hot sauce with the bell shaped bottle. Kroger (kings soopers) and Safeway both have great store brands Louisiana hot sauce.
This recipe is really good. I made two changes – I added a little bit of honey and, more importantly, I blended the sauce to avoid separation and achieve an awesome texture. See attached pic.
I thought the sauce came out great! I only used one stick of butter though and added some honey and a lil cornstarch to thicken. The sauce stuck very nicely on the chicken. I used Louisiana hot sauce. It was spicy and sweet! Absolutely delicious
This sauce is absolutely delicious. Better than many restaurant sauces. The only thing I added was finely chopped garlic and lots of it since we love garlic. It simmered for a minute in the little pot on the stove. My husband can’t get enough of it.
I used this recipe in place of plain butter to make buffalo chicken grilled cheese sandwiches and it was perfect
Double recipe for Costco chicken wing pack!
We don’t use Frank’s so I substituted with Crystals hot sauce. It was the perfect combination of hot tangy and delicious. It isn’t very thick and I didn’t know how it would stick to the chicken but it was just perfect.
Super easy and very tasty. I didn’t realize that I hadn’t any wing sauce in my cupboard after I had made a large batch of wings. Luckily I had all the ingredients in my pantry. Side note, I even tried this recipe with Old Bay flavored hot sauce, minus the Worcestershire sauce and cayenne pepper. It worked out great.
This was a great sauce! Made it per instructions and it tasted great! Better than the bottled stuff! May make again. I’m a buffalo sauce lover so figured I’d give this a try!
Tried 2 different ones. This was what I was looking for ❤️
I thought the recipe was straightforward and of excellent quality. Instead of Franks Red Hot, you can use Tabasco, And to add strength to the taste, use white wine vinegar instead of white vinegar.
I don’t eat Buffalo Wing Sauce but decided to take a taste of this sauce. Its delicious! Looks like I will be enjoying a few of these each time wings are made!
For the pepper sauce, I used one tbsp of Fuego extra hot jalapeno sauce and nine tbsp of original tabasco. It was delicious, but too thin when I made it as written. I added two tbsp of Turkish pepper paste (Suntat brand) and now it’s perfect for my liking.
I think the basic recipe is great. I do dress it up slightly though. I use Texas Pete as my base. I add the garlic and some onion in an equal portion. I also add a 1/8 – 1/4 cup of veg. oil. Then I blend with emersion blender until it stays homogenized. (can also use wisk) This gives it much better mouth feel – it winds up “feeling” more sauce like and less thin. Also clings to wings better.
I love this sauce and there’s also a simpler three ingredient version that I love as well. My younger kids don’t like it quite as hot so I always add a little barbecue sauce to it and it is so perfectly creamy! Wings are a weekly staple, so a good sauce is important!
I always wondered why my wings didn’t taste like the restaurant, then I found this recipe I left out the additional cayenne and it still had plenty of kick for my taste lol
Thought the sauce was too thin and did not taste like hot wing Buffalo chicken, also thought there was way too much butter.
Tastes pretty much like the real thing.
Delicious and so easy!
Been using this recipe for years and will continue too, my family loves it with my wings, reminds me of a 5 start restaurant I used to work in when I was young, definitely a keeper for those who love buffalo sauce, Thanks!!
