Brussels Sprouts with Nuts

  5.0 – 1 reviews

One of my favorite dishes for Brussels sprouts is this one. Since Brussels sprouts taste best after a night of cold weather, I typically purchase them at the farmer’s market following a cold snap.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 20 mins
Total Time: 30 mins
Servings: 4
Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  1. 1 ½ (12 ounce) packages Brussels sprouts
  2. 1 cup water
  3. 1 tablespoon butter
  4. 1 teaspoon vegetable bouillon
  5. 1 teaspoon white sugar
  6. 1 pinch ground nutmeg
  7. salt
  8. 1 tablespoon ground walnuts, or more to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine Brussels sprouts, water, butter, bouillon, sugar, and nutmeg in a saucepan over medium heat, cover, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until soft, 20 to 30 minutes. Uncover for the last few minutes so any excess liquid can evaporate. Season with salt and sprinkle with ground nuts.
  2. You can use other ground nuts as well or roasted sesame seeds for sprinkling.
