Easy to make. My kids loved it! We love cinnamon, so we added more when we sprinkled it on.
Made like it said, was short on bread so used egg wash poured over top. Like a souffle
really good smelled good and ate it fast 10 out of 10
I substituted Stollen for the french bread. The loaf was 32 ounces. I doubled the eggs, milk and salt while keeping the remaining ingredients as directed. It brought out the flavors of the homemade stollen which had dried fruits. Definitely a recipe to keep.
I liked how quick and easy it was
I thought this turned out great. I am not sure about the bread amount but I just dipped bread until I ran out. It made about 14 slices of skinny French bread pieces. We loved it.
I doubled the sugar and cinnamon mixture and added ground ginger to it as well. I also added 1/2 a teaspoon of almond extract and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the custard mixture. It was a big hit! Will definitely make this again.
Easy. I did not mess it up. Liked it exactly as written.
I followed the original directions, except I used less butter (about 1/3 of a stick) and less brown sugar (about 1/2 cup) to make it a little healthier. I used 8 large slices of “Italian” bread from the bread aisle. I really loved it! Thanks!
Wow this is good! I added about 3/4 of a tsp of real vanilla and a tsp of cinnamon to the egg mix plus the usual cinnamon on top. I made extra egg mix like others suggested but it was wasted so I’ll stick with the recipe next time. Oh and half light cream/half skim milk. Everyone in my family went back for seconds and the whole pan is now gone. This is definitely a keeper recipe!
OMG!!!! This was easy and incredible. I used store brought italian bread that I cut into thick slices. My husband didnt think much of it until he took a bite. He typically likes french toast made with challah bread which I have not seen here in NCarolina. I made cream cheese icing to go on this toast and topped with fresh strawberries and bananas. Only change I made to the recipe was I added vanilla. I also baked on 375. Made this for Father’s day and our daddy had 5 huge slices. So great to be able to just bake all your toast right in the oven, crispy on the outside and moist and soft inside, so good-it took regular french toast to a special “fancy” level, very much enjoyed!!
I used 6 slices of Texas toast.
The whole family enjoyed this—major victory! I followed the recipe exactly except to ladle the egg mixture over the bread after it was in the pan rather than soaking it in a shallow dish. I thought my kids might insist on syrup because that’s what they’re used to, but the sugary buttery coating was enough. I love that the whole batch cooks at once so the whole family can eat together.
Absolutely phenomenal! I added vanilla extract to the egg mixture, as several people suggested. I may try some pecans next time too for some crunch. All in all, outstanding, and almost shockingly easy!
It was delicious! A perfect meal to make on Christmas that didn’t take a lot of time in the kitchen. My family said it is a keeper. I would have added vanilla to the egg/milk mixture (I will do that next time). I used cinnamon sugar instead of just cinnamon Thanks for sharing the recipe!!
Wonderful. Followed recipe exactly.
I only used half the amount of butter, added the vanilla per someone else’s suggestion and just sprinkled on the brown sugar. My husband and one year old loved it!!
Absolutely wonderful! So nice to have a baked french toast recipe you don’t have to make the night before. I used leftover french baguette and I only changed using a mixture of milk/half & half instead of only milk. It was almost like having dessert, lol. No need for syrup. Did not get dry at all. Cannot wait to make this over and over again….. WOW!
It was just Great!!
Outstanding hit for Mother’s Day brunch.
So good!!! What a great and easy thing to make on a lovely Sunday morning!!! I will certainly make this again!
