Brandy’s Blackberry Cobbler

  4.7 – 56 reviews  • Blackberry Cobbler Recipes

the world’s greatest cobbler! With ice cream or whipped cream, serve warm. In this recipe, any type of berry may be used. Even better, I’ve created a quadruple berry cobbler using strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries.

Prep Time: 20 mins
Cook Time: 30 mins
Total Time: 50 mins
Servings: 8
Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup all-purpose flour
  2. ½ teaspoon salt
  3. ½ cup butter at room temperature
  4. 3 tablespoons ice water
  5. 4 cups blackberries
  6. 1 ¼ cups white sugar
  7. 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  8. ¾ cup water
  9. ½ cup cold butter, diced

Instructions

  1. Preheat an oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  2. Whisk 1 cup of flour with the salt in a mixing bowl. Mix in the softened butter until the mixture resembles cornmeal. Stir in the ice water until a dough forms. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  3. Place the berries in a mixing bowl, and sprinkle with 1 1/4 cups sugar and 6 tablespoons of flour. Stir in the water until moistened, and scrape into a 2-quart baking dish. Roll the dough on a floured work surface to 1/4-inch thick, and cut into 3/4-inch strips. Place onto the berries in a crisscross pattern. Scatter the diced butter over top.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until the berries are tender and the crust is golden brown, about 30 minutes.

So yummy. I actually used a refrigerated pie crust to save time. Still great!

This was the easiest and most flavorful cobbler I’ve ever made!

Best blackberry cobbler I’ve ever made. My family loved it and paused when I told them I made it. They couldn’t believe it. lol. Thanks for sharing.

Very good! Here’s what I changed and would change in the future. I added 1/2 sugar, 1/2 brown sugar, but I think in the future I’d add about a 1/4 c less sugar, as it is sweet. Also, I’d make more crust, I love a lot of crust, so would maybe do 1.5 times the crust recipe. I omitted the water to the blackberry mix, as I figured they’d be plenty juicy and wouldn’t require more liquid, and for me, it worked out great..nice and thick! I added 1/2 tsp vanilla and a heaping tsp of cinnamon to the blackberry mixture, yum!

It took 1 hour for the filling to completely cook with the oven preheated at 400*. I used ready made crust in a glass 9” round pie pan. I added foil to the edges to prevent over browning. It tastes amazing with out the tartness.

Delicious!! All I could find were cobbler recipes that were more like cake, which makes it less fruity – This was exactly what I was looking for. I used store-bought crust, so this was quite easy. I halved the sugar and butter, and it was still out of this world!!

Delicious! However the first time I made this I forgot to add the water and it turned out PERFECT. The next time , I added the water and it was way too runny. Omit the water and it will be the easiest most delicious cobbler ever!

Just like granny use to make it. I put a little sugar and cinnamon on top.

The best cobbler I’ve ever made. I followed the recipe exactly. The only thing I did different was laying the entire crust over the top instead of cutting them into strips. I was in a hurry so I just cut several slots in the top and it cooked perfectly. I plan to make again with the lattice strips, it looks much prettier that way. But if you are in a hurry or not worried about having the lattice it works just fine to lay it out on top. Thank you, I’ll be using this recipe for a long time. My hubby is very particular about cobbler crust and he loved this one.

I recommend to put a pie crust on bottom as well, cut the water to 1/2 cup, and put 1/4 cup more sugar into Berry mixture. Looks great but a little too tart, extremely runny, and very little bread. With a few modifications it would be perfect.

This is such a good cobbler! I have made it twice. My family loved it. I cut the sugar in half bc we don’t eat much sugar. The crust is dreamy. It’s important to refrigerate the dough as the recipe specifies as I didn’t the 2nd time and it wasn’t as good.

Made it with 1 cup of sugar and it was sweet enough for us and used 1/4 stick of real butter for topping. I will be using this recipe for all my future blackberry cobblers because I loved this kind of crust.

Sorry. This is a blackberry pie. Rolled crust? Not a cobbler. I agree with the reviews, far too much sugar.
Robert Peterson
I’ve made this twice now. Once with blackberries and then with blueberries. Both times have been huge hits! The recipe is simple and not too sweet. The crust is amazing. I sprinkled cinnamon sugar on top for the blueberry recipe. Yum!! You should try it!!
