- Preheat the toaster oven to high.
- Slice the waffle into 1/2-inch strips. Toast them until crispy.

Great idea of making one waffle go a long way. Sometimes you feel as though you have more if it just looks like more — we so eat with our eyeballs. Throw some fruit on the side and a very yummy snack or light meal. 🙂 As for the toaster difficulties, I think she’s using a toaster oven. If you don’t have one of those, then yes, I’d cut them into strips after I toasted them.
If you are having trouble removing the waffle from the toaster and you get shocked, burnt, etc if you go to a grocery store you will find wood tongs to remove the waffles, toast, etc without getting burnt, or shocked. Also, Walmart,
Target also have them in the house goods sections. I have purchased these for my “girls” to also grab hot dogs, etc. Hope this helps you find them.

WOW! Food Network give me a show if all you need for a “recipe” is a FROZEN, BOXED waffle and some generic syrup.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to toast the waffles first then cut them into strips? I burnt my fingers several times trying to dish these darn things out of my hot toaster. There’s big blisters all over my hands now and they look terrible!
I tweaked this recipe a little. I cut up a pancake and dipped it in regular maple syrup. Pancake fries!
I didn’t have any waffle fries, so I used a petetoe insted. And I was fresh out of syrup to, so I just used ketchup. Tasted just like real fries and kechup! Will def make again.
So, the first time I tried this recipe I totally missed the syrup part and I tried dunking the waffles in ketchup. GROSS. I re-read the recipe and tried it again, with syrup. It was much better. They should TOTALLY put this on the menu at IHOP!
I was out of frozen waffles and syrup, so I used the week old Chick Fil A waffle fries I found in the back of my fridge. I haven’t figured how to remove them from the toaster though, since I get a little jolt every time I stick a fork in to retrieve a piece.
kept sparking my butter knife against the toaster coils trying to cut the frozen waffle. I ended up with a shredded mess in the bottom of the crumb tray. I managed to make due with the blackened crumbs that had a distinct smoky flavor. I substituted ranch dressing for the syrup and crushed Purina cat chow for bacon bit flavor. Will consider making it again.
Okay, so, is it just me, or is this recipe the most difficult thing ever to execute? It took me a couple tries to get it right. For one thing, my toaster doesn’t have a “preheat” option so I just turned the dial to “medium” and pushed down the lever. As for the waffle, I cut my it into strips and put them into my toaster, but when the time was up I couldn’t get them out! I was really disappointed it didn’t turn out.
The next morning I toasted the waffle before cutting it and it turned out great aside from the burnt remains of the previous day’s failed waffle attempt sticking to the bottom of the new waffle. It tasted kind of burnt, but I guess that’s just a side effect of my toaster oven not preheating.
I didn’t have sugar-free syrup so I dipped my waffle sticks in melted butter mixed with splenda. It tasted alright. I have a feeling the sugar-free syrup would put it over the top, though, so I’ll have to try that next.
