This is an excellent cocktail! The only change I made was the addition of Cardamon Bitters, which complemented the smokiness of the Mescal. Also works well with cinnamon and nutmeg.

Wow! This is an absolutely fabulous cocktail! I will make this frequently. The magic is in that lovely garnish of freshly grated nutmeg and cinnamon. I didn’t have mescal, but I had Kirkland Tequila which is dark and has a mildly smokey flavor. Egg whites came from a carton of 100% pure pasteurized egg whites (Safeway brand.) The fresh lemon brightens the flavor of the smokey tequila, and the cinnamon and nutmeg provide an introductory nose to the drink that prepares you for what is to come. The after taste is wonderful, I’ve never experienced it before in a cocktail. The egg (which I can’t really taste) does leave a soft mouth-feel that makes you want to savor the taste for a long while after each sip. It carries the nutmeg and cinnamon forward for an amazingly satisfying finish.
