Just made this and totally agree about leaving out the water and using Worcestershire.
Next time i’m also going to up the acid level with more lemon and apple cider, and more cayenne to cut the richness of the mayo

Added some Worcestershire sauce and more mayo for a thickening.
Excellent flavor, and much better than the bottled variety.
Best sauce for pork and beef EVER!!! I’m addicted! I leave out the water and add about a tablespoon of worchestershire sauce and a bit more horseradish. Love it!
This is a good white sauce, but I prefer Lolly’s White sauce recipe. You can find it on the Duke’s Mayonnaise web site. Here’s The link https://www.dukesmayo.com/recipe/lollys-alabama-white-bbq-sauce/ . To this I add an extra 1/4 tsp cayenne and black pepper as well as a Tbl of sugar.
Great sauce, but I prefer to leave out the water.
I just made this sauce I left out the water and added an extra teaspoon of lemon juice super yummy!
Great sauce on chicken !
The reviewer below is a little confused; but I was the same way at first as well. Big Bob Gibson’s BBQ is NOT the same as Gibson’s BBQ. Gibson’s has two locations in Huntsville, while Big Bob Gibson’s is in Decatur (20 min away and it’s about 30 years older. Hence the perceived discrepancy in the recipe (horseradish and the comment about the strong vinegar taste. NOT the same recipe. Hope this helps.
People, people, people: If you haven’t been to Gibson’s and ordered their smoked chicken — the item that comes with this sauce, then don’t assume this sauce is supposed to be like a thick barbecue sauce.
It’s a watery, vinegar tasting sauce that you dip their dry chicken meat into in order to make it easier to swallow. I swear that the only taste that comes through on their sauce is distilled, white vinegar. BUT, it’s a taste that kind of grows on you. I’m pretty sure the horseradish is a flourish on this recipe that is not present in what they’re serving in Huntsville, AL.
