Ingredients
- One 17 1/2-ounce container plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- Assorted berries (or other fruit of your choice)
Instructions
- First, pour the yogurt into a bowl. Then add the cream and vanilla. With a whisk, carefully stir until combined. It should be nice and thick.
- Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the top of the yogurt mixture. Do not stir the mixture. Cover the bowl with foil or plastic wrap and tightly seal the edges. Place in the refrigerator for at least 20 to 30 minutes.
- When you are ready to serve, place a small handful of berries (or other fruit) into a bowl or cup. Without stirring the mixture, spoon the yogurt over the berries. There will be creamy areas and brown sugar areas. Repeat the layers once, ending with berries on top.

This is very good! When I said what I was serving for dessert, a guest later said he’d inwardly groaned thinking it would be blah but then raved over it. This is an awesome dessert. I used lowfat greek yogurt and coconut palm sugar as one of my guests won’t eat regular sugar. The cream adds a richness and texture you don’t get with whole milk greek yogurt. The amount of sugar is perfect for the way I served it- recipe says four servings but I just put a dollop over each serving of mixed, unsweetened berries and had six ample servings with a bit to spare. I think 6-8 servings is what I would plan on. I didn’t layer it, just spooned blueberries, strawberries,, and raspberries into a bowl and placed into individual dessert dishes. The touch of vanilla is important. I will definitely make this again. It lends itself to all sorts of diets. People might want just fruit, others will want the yogurt on top.
Oh my word this is yummy!!! Used NF Plain Greek yogurt, almond extract and full fat coconut milk (canned) due to dairy issues in the house. Ree is correct when she says there will be pockets of creamy and brown sugar areas. To die for! NOTE: this doesn’t last. 1st time made night bf and it turned into sugar soup on bottom and I chose to drain it as best as I could. This is a “make it and eat it”.
So delicious i can it it it for breakfast and lunch and dinner so delicious
She never said that this was healthy, so got what I expected = a luscious creamy sweet topping for my fruit. Since I have some lactose intolerant people in our household, i melted some lactose free ice cream and used it instead of using the cream and cut the sugar a little. Wow! Tasted as good as the cream stuff. I will definitely make this again as a treat.
It really is the best parfait ever!
It does not make sense to use heavy cream in this recipe. If you want a creamier parfait, use full fat yogurt instead of using Greek yogurt and then adding cream. If you do want to up the fat content of your parfait, it would make more sense to add sour cream instead of heavy cream. (Sour cream is the same thing as plain yogurt, but made with heavy cream instead of milk.)
Also, half a cup of sugar is A LOT of sugar for the quantity of yogurt. That adds nearly 400 completely empty calories. (Not to mention that the heavy cream also adds 400 calories) This dish contains more calories in sugar than it does in yogurt, and more calories in heavy cream than it does in yogurt.
Don’t fool yourself into thinking you’re eating something even close to healthy if you make this. Cookies would make a healthier breakfast.
I made this before I went to bed. It was ready when I got up and it was amazing! It was so yummy and not too sweet. I used milk instead of cream.
Best yogurt parfait ever. Even my daughter who doesn’t like yogurt loved it. Disclaimer I didn’t tell her it was made with yogurt until after she ate it. I told her all the other ingredients. It made a big batch, and maybe you are supposed to make and serve the same day. I found that the next day it was a little runny so for me I would make a smaller batch to serve for the day only.
i tried the yogurt from Ree and loved it i don’t eat that much plain yogurt but this is one i will eat more off love it is the best parfait will eat more of it
This is literally the BEST yogurt parfait ever. My family can not get enough of it. The brown sugar on top of the yogurt, truly makes this dish. Hence why we will usually add double the amount called for in the recipe LOL. We use strawberries, blackberries and a touch of raspberries as our fruit. And then we always add a hearty portion of granola on top that we buy in the bulk bins from sprouts market or trader Joe’s. We like a coconut or strawberry or vanilla granola. It adds a nice and much needed crunch factor, in addition to the juicy from the fruit and smooth and creamy from the yogurt. I’e probably made this over 50 times over the years. It’s a staple in our house. You can go so many different ways with this and change up the flavors and fruits and make it your way to suit you and your family! We experimented with a pineapple upside down cake version of this yogurt and it was wonderful too. Just pineapple chunks in place of the berries, make the yogurt as is, and add marashino cherries and crumbled up pound cake in place of the granola. To die for! Make it yours!
