Ingredients
- 1 cup milk
- ⅓ cup white sugar
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ⅓ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided, or as needed
Instructions
- Combine milk and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Heat until slightly warm to the touch then remove from heat and stir in yeast. Let stand until foamy, about 10 minutes.

- Stir together flour and salt in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook. Add softened butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture and mix until dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.

- Turn dough out onto a floured surface and continue to knead until the dough is smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.

- Grease a large bowl with 1 tablespoon oil. Place the dough into the bowl and turn once to coat. Cover and let stand in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

- Grease a cookie sheet or 9×13-inch pan with remaining oil.
- For plain rolls, punch down dough and divide into 12 equal pieces. Roll the pieces into balls and place them into the greased pan side by side.

- Cover and let dough rise again until almost doubled in size, 20 to 25 minutes.

- Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Bake in the preheated oven until rolls are golden brown, 20 to 25 minutes.

- Follow the recipe above through Step 4. Punch down and roll dough out to 1/4-inch thickness, brush on a layer of butter, cinnamon, and sugar, then roll up and cut into 12 equal slices. Place in greased pan side by side, let rise, and bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 20 to 25 minutes.
- Follow the recipe above through Step 4 and roll out the dough out to 1/4-inch thickness, roll up into a log, and cut into 12 pieces as with the cinnamon roll method. Then combine 1/4 cup soft butter, 1/4 cup packed brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon light corn syrup together and spread the mixture on the bottom of a greased pan. Sprinkle with chopped nuts. Place rolls on top, let rise, and bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 20 to 25 minutes.

I love this recipe. I add 1/2 the called for ingredients on top of what the recipe calls for, makes larger and fluffier buns in my large glass dish.

Replace half of flour by whole wheat flour, really tasty!
easy perfect recipe didn’t follow the rising directions because i was short on time so i only let rise for 5 min the yeast and sugar and for 10 min when on the tray while oven preheated came out perfect. healthiest good tasting cinnamon bun yet. baked in oven for 35 min
The dough did not rise either times, nor did it get golden brown. Will not be attempting this again.

Made sticky buns! It was great! They were a hit. Super easy to follow. Did want to ask if there was a difference in using bread flour instead of all purpose and would it be the same amounts?

I just tried this and followed recipe then realized that the oil was not for the dough after the fact the recipe it self should have a notation in it. I will try it again without adding the oil.
I made braided loaves and cinnamon rolls with this recipe and they are eaten as quickly as they hit the table.
Great flavor and easy to make. Not sure why but it came out a little dry. I thought they would of been fluffy but was not. I will try again and add a little more milk.

I halved the recipe just to give it a try. While it tasted good and the bottom and inside were nice and soft the top and some sides were crunchy. Did I over knead? Also seen some comments about making monkey bread with this, would love to know how.
