Ingredients

  1. 1/4 cup brown sugar
  2. 2 tablespoons chili powder
  3. Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  4. 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  5. 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  6. 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  7. 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  8. 2 racks baby back ribs
  9. 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  10. 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  11. 1 cup barbecue sauce

Instructions

  1. Combine the brown sugar, chili powder, 1 tablespoon salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper, the oregano, cayenne, garlic powder and onion powder in a small bowl and rub the mixture on both sides of the ribs. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour or overnight.
  2. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F. In a roasting pan, combine the broth and vinegar. Add the ribs to the pan. Cover with foil and tightly seal. Bake 2 hours. Remove the ribs from the pan and place them on a platter. Pour the liquid from the pan into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Lower the heat to a simmer and cook until reduced by half. Add the barbecue sauce.
  3. Preheat an outdoor grill to medium high. Put the ribs on the grill and cook about 5 minutes on each side, until browned and slightly charred. Cut the ribs between the bones and toss them in a large bowl with the sauce. Serve hot.

I made this recipe today OMgoodness these were amazing. It is important to read reviews for tips. I removed the silver skin as some suggested, which was great. I also increased the time to cook to 3 plus hours, but they were falling off the bone. Don’t get me wrong they were sooo moist and flavorful, but I will go closer to the Recipe next time for easy handling. Believe me, there will be a next time.

Great recipe! A bit time-consuming, as ribs typically are. But super yummy and everyone loved them… including my picky kids 🙂

Pretty nice recipe. Good flavor. I had to tone it done a bit for my “I like it bland” family, but was easy, and tasted delicious. Will make it again.

Love this recipe for baby back ribs. Can you prepare beef ribs the same way?

Added a little smoked paprika to the rub. Rubbed mustard on ribs before adding rub. Ribs were in over for 3 hours. Good recipe.
