My mother and grandma often prepare a fantastic casserole like this sausage breakfast concept.

Ingredients
- 1 ⅔ cups water
- 1 ½ cups uncooked glutinous white rice
- 1 (14 ounce) can beef broth
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 pound boneless beef sirloin steak, cut into thin strips
- 4 cups fresh broccoli florets
Instructions
- Bring water and rice to a boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until rice is tender and liquid has been absorbed, about 20 minutes.
- When the rice is almost finished, whisk broth, cornstarch, soy sauce, brown sugar, and garlic powder together in a bowl until thoroughly combined.
- Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add beef and cook until browned and juices have evaporated, 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in broccoli and cornstarch mixture; bring to a boil, then cook until mixture thickens.
- Serve over hot rice.

I added a little peanut butter to add a nutty Thai kind of taste. It was delish!
The recipe was ok. By doubling the brown sugar to 2T and a little more, it improved it a lot.
Great and simple recipe. Delicious.
It was easy to make and it turned out great. I did have to make more of the sauce though as my family prefers more with our dishes.
I love this! The only change I make is to the cut of meat used. I don’t like it in long thin strips, the meat gets too chewy, but the cubed beef is perfect! I love the flavor, but I’m not huge on strong flavorings. It didn’t have too much flavoring (I’m picky) and this is a great dish.
This recipe was easy to make and was very good. My husband is from Texas and loves his BBQ and Teriyaki dishes, so this dish was perfect!!
Very little flavor. Disappointed.
My family loved this dish and it was easy to make.
This turned out great!
little bland. needs ginger and green onions on top with a drizzle of sesame on top. some toasted sesame seeds on top would help.
loved it. very easy to make. I always find a recipe and then try to make it my own by adding or tweaking it a bit. added minced garlic to the beef while it was browning instead of the garlic powder to the teriyaki mix thinly sliced carrots with the broccoli 2 tbsp dark brown sugar instead of just one 1/4 tsp ground ginger instead of garlic powder to the teriyaki mix. I didn’t have corn starch so I used flower instead and I whisked it into the liquid while it simmered on low in a sauce pan separately to thicken it before adding it to the beef and broccoli.
I added a tab bit more brown sugar (just a half table spoon or so) and a splash more of soy sauce it came out PERFECT my picture is the one cooking with the broccoli and Carrots
Very good, fast dinner! The whole family loves it. Sometimes I switch it up and use the leftovers of a blade roast from the crock pot, sliced or shredded. It’s already marinated, so it takes even less time.
super easy to make. put the rice in the rice maker. used Picada Res meat from the meat store since it was nicely chopped. very good
Very good recipe. My husband and I loved it. I added ground ginger to give it a little kick.
so we made it. my brother loves it my husband gave it an 8. my youngest is ok with it. my oldest daughter dont like broccoli. now we had to add some teriyaki marinade to the juice. which made it alot better.
This turned out really good! I cooked the beef first, then took it out of the pan and sauteed some onions and mushrooms in the juices. I added the beef, broccoli, garlic and sauce at the end then brought it to a boil. Delicious, I’ll make it again
it was really easy to make and it was good
The meat definitely needs to be marinated beforehand- had no flavor, not to mention the acidity would help tenderize this cut of beef. I added close to a tsp of ginger powder (would be better with fresh) and more garlic powder. Like others said, it’s a great “base recipe” but really does need more zing. I took it off my list 🙁
Very bland. Not worth the effort. I actually added bottled Teriyaki marinade to liven it up, so I’ll just use the pre-made next time!
I don’t put the sugar in the sauce, it was delicious!
