Austin Margarita (aka Mexican Martini)

  4.0 – 9 reviews  • Mexican

My husband and I developed the ideal margarita after ten years of residing in Austin, Texas. Fresh fruit juice is the only ingredient and no pre-made mixtures are used, which is the key to success! Don’t cut corners and try to buy juice. If you don’t squeeze it yourself, the flavor won’t be as good. If you truly love olives, make a “Mexican martini” by adding pimento-stuffed olives. It’s fantastic! Adding three olives to a stirrer will help you distinguish your drink from everyone else’s.

Prep Time: 15 mins
Total Time: 15 mins
Servings: 1
Yield: 1 cocktail

Ingredients

  1. ½ cup ice cubes
  2. 1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger silver tequila
  3. 1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger Cointreau
  4. 2 teaspoons Grand Marnier liqueur
  5. 2 (1.5 fluid ounce) jiggers freshly squeezed lime juice
  6. 1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger freshly squeezed orange juice
  7. 1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger freshly squeezed lemon juice
  8. 3 pimento-stuffed green olives

Instructions

  1. Place the ice cubes into a margarita glass. Pour in the tequila, Cointreau, and Grand Marnier. Pour in the lime juice, orange juice, and lemon juice to taste. Garnish with a pimento stuffed olive if desired.
  2. When serving a group, I will make a mixer of the fruit juices using 10 limes, 5 oranges, and 5 lemons. Just keep the juice chilled in a pitcher, and pour it into the tequila to taste depending on how strong you like it.

This was perfect, though I did use Gold (never tried Silver yet, will have to though) and because I refuse to use mixes (corn syrup, etc) this is a healthy cocktail with WHOLE foods! Loved it!

This didn’t work for us and no one finished their drink. Sorry.

This is delicious! I only used one jigger of lime and I thought it was perfect.

This was pretty tasty. I used tequila gold because I do not like silver, and Triple Sec in place of orange juice and Cointreau. And the olive, strangely enough, tasted really good in the drink!

I had never had a Mexican Martini until I moved to Central Texas- now that’s all I order when we go out. These are great, and go down very smooth. My kids loved them when they were out for a visit too.

I have lived in Austin most of my life and agree this is one of the best margaritas!! I LOVE olives so I add some of the juice when mixing everything together! Also, skip OJ and use a splash of triple sec!!

Austin is my second home and this drink brings me back!!! I skip the olives but add an orange or lemon slice. These are the best!! Perfect for the summer!

WOW! These are soo good, I juiced all the fruit ahead of time and it was a breeze to whip these up and the taste is fabulous!! Although I did switch the name to Alamo Martinis..LOL Thanks for sharing!! What a difference the fresh juice makes, I will never go pre-mixed again!! Will be making these often =)
