Ingredients

  1. 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  2. 1 tablespoon canola oil
  3. 1 tablespoon dark sesame oil
  4. 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  5. 12 ounces 3-color cole slaw mix (recommended: Fresh Express)
  6. 1 cup bean sprouts
  7. 1 cup crispy fried chow mein noodles (recommended: La Choy) plus more for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together rice vinegar, canola oil, sesame oil, and sesame seeds.
  2. Add slaw mix, bean sprouts and fried noodles. Toss to combine. Place in refrigerator for 15 minutes for flavors to meld.
  3. Serve garnished with additional fried noodles.

I agree with other reviews that the slaw needed some added flavor. I added soy sauce, more rice vinegar, sesame oil, salt, and cayenne pepper. Turned out great. If you are a good cook, you learn to taste and adjust ingredients to your taste.

by the ingredients for the dressing that it w/b bland. I don’t even need to make it myself to know this. And if I did I would adding my own ingredients to give the recipe the flavor a good slaw deserves. Sorry Sandra, but I think you could do better than this.

We added thinly sliced red pepper, toasted the sesame seeds ans used toasted sesame seed oil. I found it refreshing. The sweetnes and crunchiness of the chow mein noodles complemented the salad nicely.

We added a tablespoon of honey, sliced almonds and a few cashews. I thought it was really refreshing. Nice summer salad. We ate it with the Baked Spring Rolls with crab. Yum.

The recipe turns out dreadfully bland or as the Brits will say? unsavory. I added a ton of ingredients to make it edible. Stay away from this one!!

I made this twice. The second time I added about a tabelspoon of sugar and 2 tsp of soy sauce to the dressing. I also added some chashews and almond slices I had on hand. So much better. Now I love it.
