Asian-Inspired Ginger Dressing

  4.0 – 2 reviews  • Yogurt Dressing Recipes

I enjoy the house salad dressing at every Asian restaurant I visit. Although not an exact replica, that served as the basis for this dish. Additionally, it is not an actual Asian recipe.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Additional Time: 30 mins
Total Time: 40 mins
Servings: 8
Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

  1. ¾ cup plain yogurt
  2. ¼ cup lemon juice
  3. ¼ cup rice wine vinegar
  4. ¼ cup ketchup
  5. ¼ cup soy sauce
  6. ¼ cup minced onion, or more to taste
  7. 3 cloves garlic, minced
  8. 2 tablespoons ginger paste
  9. 2 tablespoons white sugar
  10. 1 tablespoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Put yogurt, lemon juice, rice wine vinegar, ketchup, soy sauce, onion, garlic, ginger paste, sugar, and black pepper in a blender; blend on High until smooth.
  2. Pour dressing into a sealable container, seal, and refrigerate at least 30 minute before serving.
  3. I use low sodium soy sauce, so if you’re using regular soy sauce, you may want to cut back a bit.
  4. You also may desire to cut back on the amount of garlic and onions or saute them first to give a milder taste.
  5. If you are using fresh ginger, you may want to reduce that amount.
  6. If you are using Greek yogurt, you may want to add some water.

i had trouble with this recipe bc i didn’t have ginger paste and i was using fresh ginger that i grated on my microplane.. i used a little less than 1 tbsp but the dressing was way too gingery.. i tried doubling all the other ingredients and it was still super pungent.. i ended up making bf’s lunch for the next couple of days.. a mix of pasta, sausage, carrots, onion, and celery and i used this as dressing/sauce for it.. it worked

We liked this a lot but it makes a lot more than you would expect from the number of servings. It isn’t quite like the dressing you get at a Teppan Grill but close – very close. Thanks!
