Level: Easy
Total: 1 hr
Active: 15 min
Yield: 1 martini

Ingredients

  1. 2 ounces apple flavored bourbon, such as Jim Beam Apple
  2. 1 ounce triple sec
  3. 1 ounce toasted caramel syrup
  4. 1 large egg white
  5. Pinch ground cinnamon
  6. 1 Cinnamon Sugar Straw, recipe follows
  7. 1 store-bought pie dough (9-inch round)
  8. 1 large egg, beaten with 2 tablespoons water
  9. 3 tablespoons turbinado sugar
  10. 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Shake the bourbon, triple sec, caramel syrup and egg white together in a cocktail shaker until your arm hurts?this step is called a dry shake. If you’re using an egg white it’s the most important step because the egg white has to break down before adding the ice! Add ice to the shaker and shake until cold. Strain into a martini glass. Top with cinnamon and a Cinnamon Sugar Straw.
  2. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  3. Using a knife, square off 4 sides of the pie dough. Brush a layer of egg wash over the dough and sprinkle with the turbinado sugar and cinnamon. Cut the dough into 1/2-inch-wide strips. (The strips should be at least 7 inches long to lay across a 5-inch wide martini glass.)
  4. Bake for 30 minutes, and allow to cool for at least 15 minutes before adding to a martini glass.

Made these for Thanksgiving… My guest loved them, however I thought it was a little too sweet so the next round I cut back on syrup. We had a second day of family and they had asked me to make again . This time for the none whiskey drinkers I used spice rum …. Oh my that was a hit !

I made these for my family get together and they were the talk of the party. I used regular caramel syrup and it tasted just like apple pie.
Instead of “shaking until my arm hurt,” I used a small smoothie blender and got a lot of froth from the egg white.
The little pie stick on the top was horrible and I ended up leaving it out. I followed the directions and I pulled them out of the oven burnt. Tried again watching them closely and it was just a waste of time and money. I think it would be better using cinnamon sugar on a twisted puff pastry.

Wanting to make this for the holiday; however Toasted Carmel Syrup does not exist!  Looked everywhere and online. Any ideas or comparable substitutions?
