Ingredients
- 1 orange
- 1 medium apple (a sweeter variety such as Gala or Fuji)
- 3 cups fresh cranberries
- 1 celery stalk, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1/2 cup shelled walnuts
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon orange liqueur
Instructions
- Grate the zest from the whole orange and set aside. Cut off any remaining pith from the orange. Cut the orange into chunks. Peel the apple and remove the core; cut into large pieces.
- In a food processor, combine the orange zest and chunks, apples, cranberries and celery and process until finely chopped; be careful not to process too long because the mixture will become mushy. Add the walnuts and pulse until chopped. Stir in the sugar and orange liqueur. Refrigerate until serving time, at least 2 hours and up to overnight.

This relish tastes just like my grandmothers!! Delicious and brings back so many memories
Delicious. I never had relish before. Now definitely on my table.
It’s so yummy!!’ I’m making it again! This will be a new tradition over the holidays season each year!
Made this at Thanksgiving and loved it. Making it again as everyday food.
I work at a private country club and I gave this recipe to our head chef. He was stuck on his own recipe so I issued a challenge. We made both his and Katie Lee’s recipe and in a blind taste test at happy hour had our patrons at the bar try both.
This was the winner, not only by a huge margin, but by 100% of those that tried it. It is now a favorite on our holiday menu.
So delicious and fresh tasting! Love it! I am going to try it on my yogurt, too. Definitely will make this again!
Love the zest and freshness!
So fresh and beautiful! My husband loves this recipe! He’s a meat guy but he loves this relish. It has become synonymous with Thanksgiving!
I like this recipe the best!
I have tried many relish recipes trying to find the one with the best flavor and I think this one wins. I used 2 clementines (just halved then cut into pieces) and a whole bag of cranberries.
