Apple Butter Pork Loin

The best pork recipe I’ve ever prepared is this one. This pork is cooked in apple juice and seasoned with a spicy apple butter. This is the definition of comfort food—a wonderful Sunday supper!

Prep Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 3 hrs
Total Time: 3 hrs 15 mins
Servings: 6
Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

  1. 2 (2 pound) boneless pork loin roast
  2. seasoning salt to taste
  3. 2 cups apple juice
  4. ½ cup apple butter
  5. ¼ cup brown sugar
  6. 2 tablespoons water
  7. ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  8. ¼ teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Season the pork loins with seasoning salt, and place them in a 9×13 inch baking dish or small roasting pan. Pour apple juice over the pork, and cover the dish with a lid or aluminum foil.
  3. Bake for 1 hour in the preheated oven. While the pork is roasting, mix together the apple butter, brown sugar, water, cinnamon, and cloves. Remove pork roasts from the oven, and spread with apple butter mixture.
  4. Cover, and return to the oven for 2 hours, or until fork-tender.

Easy and delicious! I used only 1 c. apple juice and that was enough.

This dish is a symphony of flavors! My family said, “it tastes like apple pie.” I used plain apple juice because I couldn’t find apple cider. This will be a repeat performance meal with me.

Followed recipe but put it all in my insta-pot. Cooked only 40 min and was very moist and tender cooked this way.

I don’t know what happened. I followed recipe to a T. The flavor was amazing!!! Spot on. The dryness of the pork was horrible. Trying again but for 40 min covered and 60 min glazed and covered. We did 2 hours total and meat was so dry ‍♀️

3 hours is much too long to cook a 2 lb. pork tenderloin at 350. I cooked it less than 2 hours & it was more than done and a bit tough.

I LOVE the sweetness the Apple Butter mixture brings out in this recipe and a HUGE thank you to Valerie for her review. She was spot on. Cook it 45 minutes THEN add the Apple Butter mixture and bake for another 45. I only made 1 2.5 to 3 lb loin but it turned out PERFECT. Had it with Yukon Gold mashed potatoes and Brown Sugar/Butter Carrots and had a wonderful meal! DEFINITELY going to make it again.

This is a great recipe! The only change I made was to use a pork loin roast instead of tenderloins, because that’s what I had on hand. I reduced the temperature and cooked it longer, for about 2.5 hours. When the meat was tender, I poured out the juices before coating it with the sauce. I left it uncovered, so the sauce would caramelize, and served extra sauce on the side. Even my son raved about it, and he’s a tough critic.

Change nothing it’s heaven

I agree that the recipe calls for a pork loin and not a tenderloin. I think the apple juice is way too much liquid though. I will do this again and use much less juice. We loved the apple butter mixture though and I think we will be able to spread that over the roast better if there is less juice surrounding the roast next time. I think this will work with chicken just as well and pork chops too. Really good taste. Just adapt a little. And I think the apple butter topping would work with a tenderloin too if you cook it for less time.

Made this and it’s definitely going on the list to be made again

Great recipe. I soaked my pork roast in the apple cider all night with the apple butter mixture on top. Let the roast come to room temp the next day. . Cooked an hour with tinfoil on. Cooked about 1 more hour total checking with meat thermometer. 170. A 6 pound roast. Let set for about 10 minutes. And nom nom!

Ok, before everyone snarls about not making the recipe like it is written, I did not make this like the recipe. I did have some leftover shredded pork in the freezer, so I made the sauce with the apple butter, etc. and mixed them together for pulled pork sandwiches. My husband said he didn’t want regular old bbq sandwiches anymore. This was a winner.

Not your best effort. Wrong ingredients, wasteful use of ingredients, way over cooking time, you don’t even need 3 hours to cook a whole loin of pork. 2 cups of apple juice that is just tossed out, 1 cup would be sufficient. Apple butter glaze, probably could have been cut in half , or even by 1/3. Fork tender ? I tried slicing mine with a freshly sharpened knife and it just crumbled like saw dust. When trying a new recipe, I follow the directions exactly, even if my gut tells me not to. I figure the person that wrote it, must know best. Sorry to be so honest. I was serving this to guests

It was delicious … the only change I made was to add 1/2 again all ingredients on the sauce to spread on top (as there were 2 pork loins). Marvelous flavor and the BEST for a FALL evening.

I braised the pork on the grill before baking in oven. I also added onion and a few slices of apple. The pork was delicious. Very tender and flavorful. I also made a gravy with the juice in the cooked pork. My family and friends loved it!

I followed the recipe as it was described. Not sure if 2 cups of apple juice was necessary. I did conclude that cooking it for 3 hours was too long, it was overcooked. Next time will cook by weight, reduce apple juice/cider to 1 cup and reduce the sugar in the ‘sauce’. I probably will try it again but want to explore others, looking for a really tasty pork recipe and still haven’t found one.

We also cut the cooking time to about 1-1/2 hr. Additionally, I reserved a couple of tablespoons of the apple butter mixture and served on the side like a chutney and it was very good. Served it with baked sweet potatoes and broccoli. It was a hit.
