A good first snack for a baby is apple puree. You can avoid adding sugar by using a sweeter apple variety rather than a tart one.

Ingredients
- 6 apples – peeled, cored and chopped
Instructions
- Place apples in a large saucepan and just barely cover with water. Simmer over medium-low heat until apples are tender, 15 to 20 minutes.
- Remove cooked apples with a slotted spoon and place in a food processor or blender; puree until smooth. Allow to cool before serving.
- To freeze for later, fill an ice cube tray with the puree. Freeze until solid, about 2 hours, then remove cubes from the tray and place in a freezer bag. To defrost, place in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 30 seconds, or as needed.
- After introducing apple to your baby for 2 to 3 days, you can even add a pinch of cinnamon to see if your baby likes the taste.
