This cool Campari® and sweet vermouth cocktail became well-known thanks to American travelers visiting Italy. In essence, it is a Negroni with the gin octane removed. Nice for sipping in a Rome cafe in the afternoon. or perhaps even Topeka.

Ingredients
- 2 cups ice
- 1 ½ fluid ounces bitter orange aperitif (such as Campari®)
- 1 ½ fluid ounces sweet vermouth
- 3 ounces club soda, or as needed
- 1 (1 inch) piece orange peel
Instructions
- Add ice to a tall glass. Pour in Campari and vermouth. Stir and top with soda water. Squeeze a twist of orange peel over the drink and drop it in.

Sorry, I think it needed the “gin octane,” as this had very little flavor., so little that I would even call it subtle. Think I’ll stick with the Negroni.
