Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 25 mins
Total Time: 30 mins
Servings: 4
Yield: 4 tarts

Ingredients

  1. 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  2. 4 tablespoons shredded Cheddar cheese
  3. 4 tablespoons diced cooked ham
  4. 4 eggs
  5. 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  2. Unfold pastry sheet on a flat surface and cut into 4 squares.
  3. Place 2 pastry squares in the air fryer basket and cook 6 to 8 minutes.
  4. Remove basket from air fryer. Use a metal tablespoon to press each square gently to form an indentation. Place 1 tablespoon of Cheddar cheese and 1 tablespoon ham in each hole and pour 1 egg on top of each.
  5. Return basket to air fryer. Cook to desired doneness, about 6 minutes more. Remove tarts from basket and let cool 5 minutes. Repeat with remaining pastry squares, cheese, ham, and eggs.
  6. Garnish tarts with chives.
  7. The easiest and safest way to get your egg in the hole is to crack it into a small juice glass first and then pour it into the hole.

My family REALLY didn’t like this. They thought It bland and the puff pastry and egg didn’t play well together.

First attempt review. Only one puff pastry fit in my fryer at a time. Instead of using a whole egg I whipped mine then added. The time and temp is off for mine. 400F at 6 minutes was too long for the first cooking. 400F almost burned the top of the egg. It wasn’t even close to the picture and the middle was not fully cooked. Will try again with different times, temps, and step variations Second attempt – Used 390F for about 5 minutes. Flipped the pastry to make the indentation. Added just the egg and cooked at 350 for about 5 minutes then added the cheese and ham for the last minute. Still not quite like the original picture and the middle wasn’t fully cooked. I have one more square and will try one more time today Third attempt worked out pretty well. Cooked the pastry at 390 for about five minutes. Dropped the temp down to 300 and cooked for about six minutes. I mixed the egg every couple minutes and added the ham and cheese in the last minute
