Fabulous recipe, assorted Heirloom Tomatoes and presentation wonderful video and pictures.
Excellent
When I have had this in a restaurant it had balsamic vinegar on it. Was that a variation or is that called something else?
This is a simple Italian salad my grandmother used to make, and it carries on in my family. Grandma learned it from her mother, and brought it to this country in 1912. She added no vinegar, but she did put cloves of garlic in her oil, which gives this salad an amazing flavor.
This is a classic capresse salad recipe and doesn’t have vinegar or additional ingredients. Ina did a great job presenting it. If you add these other ingredients then it’s not a capresse salad.
Yum! Yum!
I agree with the other readers. My son found this recipe called for white wine vinegar, we used a nice balsamic, it was delicious!! Olive oil would be too plain tasting, Adding olives is a good addition to it too.
When ingredients like perfectly ripe gorgeous just picked summer tomatoes and basil are mixed with quality fresh mozzarella, all this dish needs is a drizzle of top quality olive oil and salt & freshly ground pepper. Let the flavors of the tomatoes and basil shine in this simplistic recipe. It’s a perfect and delicious side salad that is a staple on our table all summer long.
