Eat well, eat more! I cut out the bun so I can have more dogs and veggies with less guilt. Chicago-style dogs are my favorites, with pickles, tomatoes, onions, mustard, and slaw on top; this salad reverses the order and piles the veggies up high underneath the dogs.

I was so excited to see this recipe and it did not disappoint! I wanted the essence of the holiday without the carbs! It captured the flavors completely!!!
Made this exactly as recipe stated. This was truly excellent! My entire family loved it. Served hot dogs and brats over top and some hash brown potatoes on side. Serious YUM!
Just finished!!! Absolutely delishious!!! Taste of Chicago right here in Ohio!!
Very good.
I love this recipe. I live in a small midwest town where I cannot get all the food I always crave so this recipe is a life saver for me when I’m craving a delicious Chicago Style Hot Dog. I usually have everything on hand for it as well. The only addition I made was sprinkling poppy seed on the finished salad for presentation. Love it!
This is quick and easy to make! Terrific and the grandkids even love it!
This tastes exactly like a Chicago dog. Amazing. Loved every bite of it.
I was actually surprised that it tasted so much like a hot dog!
Like most reviewers, I made a couple of tweaks, but they were minor ones. I had grilled marinated shrimp the night before, so I grilled the hot dogs as well and then just refrigerated them until the next night. I followed the recipe at that point – sliced the dogs, sautéed them until they were hot and browned on the cut ends, then piled them on the salad. I also had a fresh spinach salad the night before and added some spinach to the greens. Finally, I mixed about ¼ of the chopped pickles into the dressing because I thought they might have a tendency to escape to the bottom of the dish. YUM – An incredible combination – perfect for a hot summer day. Thanks Rach!
I’m from Chicago and we loved this recipe. I modified the dressing by adding about a tablespoon of bright green sweet pickle relish and some celery salt. Would have added poppy seeds but didn’t have any. Also, sport peppers, chopped fine, would be a great addition. To the person who said Chicago Dogs don’t have slaw on them: Hello? It’s a SALAD? We loved the crunch of the slaw in addition to the romaine (which isn’t found on a Chicago Dog either).
This is a great salad! I love Chicago dogs and how easy this is to make. My husband loved it also (and he is not a salad lover. I would definitely make this again!
