The addition of chipotle chilies and pepper Jack cheese gives creamy chipotle mac and cheese a spicy edge.

Servings: 8
Yield: 1 roast turkey

Ingredients

  1. Reynolds® Oven Bag, turkey size
  2. 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  3. 2 stalks celery
  4. 1 medium onion
  5. 1 (8 pound) turkey, fresh or thawed*
  6. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  7. 1 teaspoon ground thyme
  8. 1 teaspoon dried basil
  9. 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  10. 1 teaspoon paprika
  11. 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  12. 1 tablespoon dried sage
  13. ½ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Shake flour in Reynolds® Oven Bag; place in large roasting pan at least 2 inches deep. Spray inside of bag with nonstick cooking spray, if desired to reduce sticking with large turkeys.
  3. Add vegetables to oven bag. Remove neck and giblets from turkey. Rinse turkey, pat dry and brush with oil. Combine seasonings in a small bowl; sprinkle and rub evenly over turkey.
  4. Place turkey in oven bag on top of vegetables.
  5. Close oven bag with nylon tie; cut six 1/2-inch slits in top. Insert meat thermometer through slit in bag into thickest part of inner thigh not touching the bone. Tuck ends of bag in pan.
  6. Bake according to times below* or until meat thermometer reads 180 degrees F.
  7. Let stand in oven bag 15 minutes. Cut open top of bag. Use two carving forks, inserting one in each end, to lift turkey from bag.
  8. How much to buy? Estimate 1 pound of turkey per person for generous servings with leftovers.
  9. For lightly stuffed turkeys, add 1/2 hour to bake time.
  10. If turkey skin sticks to oven bag, gently loosen bag from turkey before opening.
  11. 1 1/2 to 2 hours for 8-12 pound turkeys
  12. 2 to 2 1/2 hours for 12-16 pound turkeys
  13. 2 1/2 to 3 hours for 16-20 pound turkeys
  14. 3 to 3 1/2 hours for 20-24 pound turkeys

Soooo moist! I had never cooked in a bag before and was most pleasantly surprised at how good this turkey was. Mine was almost 15 pounds so I added a little additional celery and onion. Thanks for the recipe.

My turkey was a bit light (around 9 lb) and I did leave it in a bit long (200 deg); it was not falling-off-the-bones soft. Flavor was okay. Hoping to make good sandwiches out of it.

AMAZING way to cook turkey. I have used Reynolds Oven Bags for years. Recipe is perfect. I place the turkey in the bag breast-side-down. This way the juices stay in the white meat. If you haven’t tried oven bags – you definitely should. No getting up early or basting. The turkey stays moist and cooks very quickly.
