Prep: 15 min
Yield: 2 quarts (4 to 6 servings)

Ingredients

  1. 12 fresh raspberries
  2. 4 thin slices jalapeno pepper
  3. 12 ounces tequila (preferably 100 percent blue agave tequila blanco)
  4. 12 ounces fresh ruby red grapefruit juice
  5. 3 ounces fresh lime juice
  6. 3 ounces agave syrup
  7. 10 ounces club soda or lemon-lime soda
  8. 1/4 cup kosher salt
  9. Zest of 1 grapefruit
  10. Lime wedges, for the glasses

Instructions

  1. Make the cocktails: In a glass pitcher, muddle the raspberries and jalapeno, then fill halfway with ice. Add the tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice and agave. Take a second pitcher (the same size) and pour one into the other repeatedly to mix the drink together. Top it off with club soda or lemon-lime soda.
  2. Make the grapefruit salt: Crush the salt and grapefruit zest together with a mortar and pestle, then spread on a plate. Run a lime wedge around the rim of each glass, then dip the glasses in the grapefruit salt. Fill with the cocktails.

This is one of the best cocktails that I have EVER made! The Jalapeno adds an interesting and subtle spice. These were so good the first night, we made them again the following night. If you are looking for a unique and delicious cocktail, give this a try. You won’t be disappointed!
