Key Lime Pie Iced Tea

  4.4 – 5 reviews  • Lime Recipes
We love our trips to Florida to visit Grandma and Grandpa, and we always indulge in all things Key lime pie. I thought, why not make a Key lime pie iced tea and use sweetened condensed milk as the sweetener? It works amazingly well, and the graham cracker rim is reminiscent of the crust. Close your eyes and you’ll be sitting on the beach in sunny Florida!
Level: Easy
Total: 1 hr 35 min
Active: 20 min
Yield: 6 to 8 servings

Ingredients

  1. 5 black tea bags
  2. 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  3. 1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk, plus more to taste
  4. 1/2 cup lime juice or Key lime juice
  5. 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
  6. Lime wheels and wedges, for garnish
  7. Crushed iced, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat 8 cups water in a medium saucepan, then add the tea bags. Allow to steep for 10 minutes. Add the sugar and stir to combine.
  2. Allow to cool another 10 minutes to room temperature, then whisk in the sweetened condensed milk and lime juice. Place in the fridge to chill for 1 to 2 hours (you can also serve immediately over ice at this point).
  3. Place the graham cracker crumbs on a shallow plate. Rim the glasses with the lime wedges and gently dip into the graham cracker crumbs. Set aside.
  4. Serve the tea over crushed iced and garnish with the lime wheels.

It had an off taste. Too much lime juice maybe?

Katie, I haven’t made this yet but would love to add Cruzan key lime rum to make it an adult drink! (Cruzan rum is from St. Croix, USVI)
