Yield: 4 to 6 servings

Ingredients

  1. 9 ripe plums (3 roughly chopped)
  2. 1 cup teriyaki sauce or marinade, such as SoyVay
  3. 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  4. 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  5. 2 teaspoons sriracha
  6. 1 1/2 to 2 pounds skirt steak
  7. Kosher salt and fresh ground pepper
  8. Sliced scallions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium heat. Puree the 3 chopped plums in a food processor or blender until smooth. Stir together the pureed plums with the teriyaki, sesame oil, Dijon and sriracha in a large bowl. Add the steak to the bowl, tossing to coat in the marinade, and marinate in the fridge for at least 1 hour.
  2. Cut the remaining 6 plums in half and remove the pits. Thread 6 halves on a long skewer, skewered from top to bottom. Repeat with another skewer.
  3. Remove the steak from the marinade and pat dry.
  4. Add the marinade to a medium saucepan over medium-high heat and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer until the sauce has reduced slightly, about 5 minutes. Salt and pepper each side of the steak and grill over medium heat on each side for 2
  5. to 3 minutes. Once grilled on both sides, remove from the heat and let rest for 10 minutes.
  6. While the steak rests, put the plum skewers cut-side down on the grill and cook for 2 minutes. Flip and grill the other side for 2 minutes. Brush the plums with the marinade, flip and cook for an additional 1 to 2 minutes.
  7. Remove the plums from the skewers onto a platter. Slice the skirt steak against the grain and brush some marinade on it. Serve with scallions on top.

Sweet, salty with a bit of spice. Love this recipe, my boyfriend loves it too! The grilled plums add a burst of juiciness with each bite of steak. We served this with white rice and a simple salad. Can’t wait to make this again

Meet was tough and did not have much flavor. Not a do over for our family. Not worth the effort.

This was verrrrryyy good.  I was worried about the plums, but they added a different taste profile, acid.  Kids loved it.  Definitely making again!

This was very good and very easy however, it was very salty. Maybe it was the brand of teriyaki marinade I used?

This recipe is absolutely worth making. The star of this recipe is the sauce like in the previous reviews. This is not to take away from the meat. It was amazing. My hubby and I even my 7 year old asked for more. Would I make this again? You bet I will. We made this on our smoker. It was delish! Thanks Katie Lee!! Just love the Kitchen.

Amazing!! the marinade/ sauce is fantastic. It has the just the right sweetness with a hint a spice and works very well with the steak. The scallions added at the end make for a perfect bite.

Great flavor! Followed the recipe as directed. Marinated for just 1 hour, the meat was perfect. The real star is the sauce, it is delicious.
