  1. 1 pound lean ground turkey
  2. 1 cup chopped onion, or more to taste
  3. 1 medium green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
  4. 3 cloves garlic, or more to taste, minced
  5. 1 (15.5 ounce) can dark red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  6. 1 (15.5 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
  7. 1 (15 ounce) can whole kernel corn, drained
  8. 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  9. 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  10. 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  11. ¼ cup water

  13. 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  14. 1 dash hot pepper sauce, or to taste (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat a large nonstick pot over medium-high heat. Cook and stir ground turkey and onion in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 8 to 10 minutes. Drain and discard grease. Add bell pepper and garlic; cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
  2. Stir in kidney beans, black beans, corn, both cans of tomato sauce, diced tomatoes with juice, water, chili powder, salt, and hot pepper sauce; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 20 to 30 minutes.
  3. Ground beef can be used in place of ground turkey, if preferred.

I made this nearly as written, I subbed red pepper for green pepper. My store was out. I was surprised that my husband actually liked this with the bell pepper. When I asked him why he gave it a 4 and not a 5 he simply said because it is not like your homemade turkey chili. My son did give it a 5 though…
