3 cups of water is way too much!! It is too liquidy. Just made it. Tried the corn starch with water to thicken it up. Didn’t work like it usually does. Should have listened to my gut on that!
This was fantastic! I used worcestershire sauce in lieu of soy and threw in bouillon cubes with the water. Topped with some cheese and it was really very good. I did add an extra half cup of elbows as I like it a bit thicker.
Good taste everybody loved it.,
Very easy and delicious.
Hubby loved it. As a change up I’ll try using whorchester sauce instead of soy sauce.
I LOVED THIS RECIPE. I DID NOT ADD PEPERICA BECAUSE I DIDN’T HAVE ANY. I SERVEDWITH A SALAD & GARLIC BREAD. DELICOUS!
This is one of my FAVORITES!! I don’t alter the recipe except to cut it in half and it still makes a lot. Easily 4-5 servings! Don’t skip anything, the bay leaves do magic. Of course, if you like peppers, mushrooms or whatever, add them if you like.
Haven’t had this since I was a child and decided to make it, its delish!
This recipe turned out amazing! Only change I made was to finely chop 3 poblano peppers!
I followed the video recipe as it didn’t match the ingredients typed below it. Typed Recipe lists soy sauce instead of whorchester sauce. Video version was awesome and great warmed up on day two!
A Family Favorite make all the time
Just added a couple spoonful’s of sugar to balance out the acidity of the tomatoes, And salt.
The family was not impressed with this dish.
Ok. Big proponent of not rating a recipe you changed, but here I break my own rule. I’ve made this many times to rave reviews. Today I went to make this and I realized I only had one can of tomato sauce but I did have a can of Manwich so into the pot that went. It turned out very good. I followed the rest of the recipe.
I’ve made this a couple of times before I changed some of it. We both thought the original recipe was a little bland so second time I bumped up all the dry ingredients and still we thought it just was missing something. Don’t get me wrong, it was still good but I wanted to try substituting some things. What I changed was that I used ground sausage instead of ground beef, sub out the tomato sauce and used V8, I sub out the can diced tomatoes for 1 can Italian seasoned diced tomato and 1 can of chili season diced tomato, sub beef broth with Better than bouillon beef flavor, used worcestershire instead of soy sauce and lastly I used a cheese blend instead of just cheddar cheese. I think it’s still the same recipe but with bumped up seasoning flavors.
I’ve made this several times and am making it tonight and having guests for dinner. I don’t love to cook but this is easy with a great outcome so I’m sure this won’t be the last time I make it. I alway service with French or other loaf bread. I make no changes; it’s perfect as it is.
For the most part this recipe makes sense. However, I remember my Grandma making this, no soy sauce, no Italian seasoning, Grandma had no garlic, with no cheese, and somehow was able to make this dish, in the oven; dry noodles and all. Norwegian, Russian, German based heritage did not use Italian seasoning….or any for that matter. Grandpa disliked garlic but loved salt. Dementia doesn’t help. Grandma’s was always the best. How long to cook, dry pasta with the sauce, in the oven, with the blue speckled bakeware? She lived in a small town. Wilton, Nd. Krautstrudla……..? homemade dough, rolled with drained sauerkraut, onion, minced ham, cooked bacon, and rolled to look like cinnamon rolls. cooked like dumplings. I cannot find a simple recipe. messaged michael symon, also the Germans from Russia. I can guarantee that people would make this!
I thought it was delicious! I made it as the recipe stated, but followed the video and added worchesire sauce.
It was delicious! I noticed the printed recipe left out some ingredients she had included in the video. She used beef broth, but only 2 1/2 cups. She also added chopped green pepper and added in cheese at the end. It thickened up nicely with the addition of the macaroni. I will include this in my favorite recipes!
Family favorite! If too soupy, I just simmer uncovered about 10 min and it’s perfect. Kids always ask for more and fight for any leftovers.
use beef stock instead of water, use salt free tomato sauce and add no extra salt
