Great, hearty soup! Made exactly as described and it turned out great. Super easy!

My first time making ham and bean soup! Dang, this was good. I think I’d like more than 3 cups of ham in it, though. I had a 1 lb pack of Great Northern Beans so I used that instead. I soaked them in the fridge for almost 12 hours. I didn’t have garlic so I had to pass on that. Also used a 32 oz carton of chicken broth. I just couldn’t wait to taste it so I got a good scoop full out at 7 hours and found it to be done. Beans were really good! Thanks for posting jroot! I’m not intimidate anymore!

I left out the Northern beans but added 14.5 oz Diced Tomatoes and juice of 1 lemon. After I fill the bowls, I add some raw diced onions and shredded cheddar cheese on top. So scrumptious!

I doubled the recipe, added 1 can of tomatoes and Worchester sauce as others recommended. It was delicious! Also I used can white beans – 3 cans as we love beans! (I didn’t use the bean mix soup mix) Used more chicken broth than water and it was very flavorful!

If I’d have asked my wife if I should make ham and bean soup she’d probably have said no. It’s just not her thing. I made it anyway – and she couldn’t get enough. I’ve made it three times in the last couple of months and it disappears quickly each time. Very flavorful, filling, and easy to modify to your own tastes by adding an ingredient here and there. I’m making another batch this week. It’s a winner at our house.

Very easy & Yummy!

Delicious! The only thing I did that was not mentioned here was add the “ham flavor” packet from the 15 bean soup bag that was included. This is easy and so yummy!!!

I like to follow the recipes exactly the first time I make it. However, I did not have 15-bean soup mix, so I used a combination of Great Northern and Kidney beans. I added green bell pepper and orange bell pepper, since my family likes them. My son, who is picky/has aversions to certain foods, ate two servings! Recipe is definitely a keeper!

I substituted 8 oz dried split peas for the great northern beans. I also left out the salt as the ham is already pretty salty.

Excellent meal, and a great way to use the end of the Christmas ham, everyone loved it! I added 1 cup of chicken broth, 2 cloves of garlic, and 1 14.5oz can of Hunt’s diced tomatoes with basil, garlic & oregano. We will definitely be making this again!

I made this and it is one of the best soups I have ever made. I was a bit skeptical since the last time I tried ham and bean soup , it was terrible and I threw it out. I did not care for the 15 bean mix so I just used a 14 oz package of great northern beans. It was thick so I also added an extra cup of broth and water. Salt to taste. This was so good I am making it again. Cannot wait to eat some.

Like some others, also added some canned diced tomatoes. Doubled the recipe and brought to work for our hungry service techs – devoured!
