I added some potatoes and mushrooms

Instead of using water use your favorite broth. Delicious

My intention was to follow this recipe exactly; however, I discovered that I bought andouille sausage instead of smoked sausage. Instead of adding the bay leaf and thyme, I added Cajun seasoning. Everyone in the family loved it – a rarity, to be sure! This recipe is easily adapted to accommodate other meats and seasoning.

This soup was delicious. My husband and I have been sick and this really hit the spot. I used red cabbage because that’s what I had on hand also o used about 4 cups chicken broth instead of the bouillon and 2 cans on diced tomatoes instead of sauce and crushed tomatoes.

Did not use turkey sausage used smoked kielbasa. Turned out great

I am a vegetarian so I left out the chicken bullion and replaced the sausage with a vegan plant based sausage. It is delicious.

This was not my favorite. It went together very easily. The end result was just underwhelming. Not a lot of flavor, texture wise everything was the same which made it boring to eat, and that is unfortunate because this really does sound like a great soup (on paper). This one definitely needs some modifications because as is, it wouldn’t be my first recommendation.

We enjoyed it and will be making it again. I was short on cabbage so I added some spinach. 1 used 1 can of diced tomatoes with green chilies and 1 can of low sodium tomato soup. I also browned the sausage . Next time I may try half cabbage and kale. Quick, easy and delicious. My kind of meal. Cornbread was the right accompaniment.

Good solid recipe. Will make again. Would like to find an ingredient to give it a little more flavor. Still a keeper

Used 3/4 head of large cabbage, turkey broth, and petite diced tomatoes . It was a good soup.

Amazing soup! Family absolutely loves this. I did replace rice with cubed potatoes and added a pound of chopped garlic sausage.

Good soup. I only change the sausage depending upon what I have. Will add it to my ‘go to’ menus!

Only had a half head of cabbage, so I added some cauliflower. Used diced tomato instead of crushed. Will make again with entire head of cabbage. May still add cauliflower. May try with meats that aren’t processed.

It turned out great I added green beans and corn and a little tomato juice for more flavors

my family loved it as did I! I used potatoes instead of rice and only 1 can of petite diced tomatoes and no tomato paste. I also changed out the water for chicken broth and still used 1 beef buillon cube. I sweat the potatoes, onion, carrot, cabbage and sausage in the pot first until tender then add in everything else to boil and then sit on low for an hour or so. love how hearty the potatoes make it. I could eat this all day everyday yummy. so good.

I loved it, but if I make it again, I’ll replace the crushed tomatoes with chicken , beef, or vegetable broth.

substituted water for chicken broth and added a couple extra cups. Sautéed onion and smoked kielbasa before adding to soup to bring out flavors. Great recipe.

I’m a foodie and I love to cook. This had such great reviews I decided to try it. I made it according to the recipe. I eat everything so not liking this soup was a surprise to me. I tried adding a variety of spices to a small pan of it at a time. Cumin, turmeric, sumac, chili, garlic, thyme. Nothing helped. I still couldn’t eat it.

Original is so good. However I made it at least 50 times so there will be always some addition or luck of missing stuff at the time I am making it. Best change I made pound of Smoked Turkey Brest cut/sliced to 1/2 inch thick and then cubed (the thinking is sausage is everything leftover in it) 2-3 medium potatoes and at the end I add some Balsamic Vinegar if you like. Mushroom generous package was also great addition. My wife love it and on the end that is most important she love it. She is always on diet. In addition cabbage head can be hard to cut up, so sometime a get cut up cabbage in the bag about 3 lbs. as good as any.
