a fantastic vinaigrette-marinated blue cheese and red onion party spread.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 7 hrs
Additional Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 7 hrs 20 mins
Servings: 12
Yield: 6 turkey legs

Ingredients

  1. 6 turkey legs
  2. 3 teaspoons poultry seasoning
  3. salt and ground black pepper to taste
  4. 6 sheets aluminum foil

Instructions

  1. Rinse turkey legs and pat dry. Season with poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper. Wrap each leg tightly in aluminum foil.
  2. Place wrapped legs into a slow cooker with no liquid or other ingredients. Cover and cook on Low until meat is no longer pink at the bone and the juices run clear, 7 to 8 hours. An instant-read thermometer inserted near the bone should read at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
  3. Remove from the slow cooker and let sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Carefully remove and discard foil. Separate thighs from drumsticks.

When I make these, I use thighs only. I season with just poultry seasoning on top and bottom. I cook in crockpot on low, but find that these are best when the internal temperature is 165 degrees, which takes much less time if you only have 2 thighs in the crockpot. Check at 4 hours.

I think it’s awesome. No hassle, easy to cook! !!!!

Great recipe. I make it with 2 legs. Four hours or so is more than enough cooking time.

This was awesome. Easy to make. Came out tender and juicy. My legs were smaller so they only needed 5 hrs of cook time.

Very easy to make and with most poultry made in a slow cooker, it fell right off the bone. Very delicious, and my house smells like Thanksgiving.

This is the best slow cooker turkey leg recipe I have found. It is very versatile regarding spices and quantity (I made 2) and still had leftovers for salad. I did, as one reviewer suggested brown the legs before putting them in the crock pot. I still could not eat the skin but I think it retained the moisture in the legs, as they were very moist and removed the skin before serving. I would not omit this step in the future. I did put 1/4 cup water in the bottom of the cooker and put some celery sticks in there to keep the foil off the bottom of the slow cooker so it would not crack. You need some water in the bottom of your crock pot so it will not crack and you MUST, if using foil in a crock pot, use the LOW SETTING. I discarded the celery sticks when the legs were done. For 2 large legs, it took 6 hours. I also threw some carrots and onions in the foil and liked that addition. It was nice to be able to have dark meat without having to cook an entire turkey. Thanks for this recipe. .

moist and tender! I put it in the oven on high broil for about five minutes just to crisp up the skin. the meat was still juicy and perfect!

This was amazing, I made few adjustments to start with I flash fried the legs first to lock in the flavors and seasoned it with salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder and fresh garlic. I set the crockpot to high for 2 hours and and low for 4 hours. Used the juice from foil to make mushroom and onion gravy. The meat was to die for, so tender and juicy.

They came out good, but could have been better. Cooked it 5 hours and probably would have been juicier if cooked 4.5 hours. Next time I’m going to season under the skin

I lived by myself and found this recipe last year. The meat fell of the bone and was fantastic. This year I will be spending Thanksgiving with just my daughter. You guest it, I’m doing it again! Fantastic!

I also sprayed the legs with a little butter and used knorr chicken seasoning, salt and pepper. I made 4 legs and cooked low they were done in 4 hrs. Then I used them to mix into some collard greens!! The turkey was heavenly!! Great recipe

Like anyone I was a bit skeptical…but I’m a believer! The meat was so tender, just falling off the bone; I will definitely cook my turkey legs like this in the future… forget about turning on the oven.

I loved this…so easy and so tasty. I added season all to the turkey legs and they came out great!!

Super easy. Used peppercorn mix instead of poultry seasoning. Used leftover meat for taco soup the next night.

the skin comes out kind of weird but the turkey is absolutely delicious and moist

This made incredibly flavorful turkey. I was cautious and put a little water in the bottom of the slow cooker. Also, I don’t know how everyone was getting dissolved bones. We didn’t have that problem at all. The kids loved it and this is absolutely going in the slow cooker rotation!

I used a sweet and spicy BBQ rub and cooked on low for 6 hours. Perfect and tender. Will cook turkey like this forever!

Six turkey legs do not fit in my crock pot. Maybe they bought smaller ones? Also not good for no liquid in the pot.

The flavor was good . It was easy to make. The reason that this dish only gets 3 star is because of the fact when I think of a thanksgiving dinner I want crisp skin. This way of cooking the legs does not make crisp skin. The photo for this dish is misleading .
