Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, 1 turn of the pan
- 1 1/4 pounds ground beef sirloin
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons to 1 tablespoon steak seasoning blend, such as McCormick brand Montreal Seasoning
- 1 medium onion, chopped

- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 4 crusty rolls, split, toasted, and lightly buttered

Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add oil and meat to the pan. Spread the meat around the pan and begin to break it up. Combine brown sugar and steak seasoning. Add sugar and spice mixture to the skillet and combine. When the meat has browned, add onion and red peppers to the skillet. Reduce heat to medium and cook onions, peppers, red wine vinegar and Worcestershire sauce with meat for 5 minutes. Add tomato sauce and paste to pan. Stir to combine. Reduce heat to simmer and cook Sloppy Joe mixture 5 minutes longer. Using a large spoon or ice cream scoop, pile sloppy meat onto toasted, buttered bun bottoms and cover with bun tops. I have been making this sloppy Joe recipe for years now and it still never disappoints. I like to use lean turkey for the meat and I also add some Sweet Baby Rae’s BBQ sauce to give it a sweet tang. It’s sooooooo good.
Sooo good! We love this- I use 1 1/2 C of tomato sauce instead of 2C and no peppers. It’s definitely a keeper. Highly recommend.
I have made this many times. It is excellent and my husband loves it.
Easy and very tasty.
This is yet another tasty recipe from Rachael Ray! I’ve been using her recipes for as long as I can remember. I’ve learned to be a better cook thanks to her quick and easy, no fail recipes! The sloppy joes have such great flavor that I might even consider using it as a starting point for making chili sometime soon! Highly recommend!
This has been my “go to” Sloppy Joe” recipe for many years! Purposely made or leftovers – I add rice and shredded cheese to stuff peppers.
Bland and basic, store bought is better.
holy cow this was good! I subbed golden Monkfruit for the brown sugar….and made my own Steak seasoning recipe since I didn’t have any. Yum!
This has been my “go to” sloppy joe recipe for years. It is a great recipe and very easy. Canned sloppy joe mix, ketchup recipes, and all the other processed fixes just can’t compare.
Itried this recipe for the first time a few years ago for a birthday party. I have made it several times over the years for parties and gatherings and its always a hit. Ive never had canned sloppy joes, so I can’t compare, but this recipe is always my go to.
