Traditional Apple Noodle Kugel

This is a classic eggplant meal meant to be eaten with plain basmati rice.

Ingredients

  1. 4 cups egg noodles
  2. 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  3. ¼ cup brown sugar, or more to taste
  4. 1 (16 ounce) package cottage cheese
  5. 1 egg
  6. 2 egg whites
  7. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  8. ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  9. ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  10. 2 firm, tart apples – cored, quartered, and thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease an 8-inch square pan.
  2. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook egg noodles in the boiling water, stirring occasionally until cooked through but firm to the bite, about 5 minutes. Drain.
  3. Beat cream cheese and brown sugar together in a bowl using an electric mixer until smooth and creamy; beat in cottage cheese, egg, egg whites, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined. Fold noodles and apples into cheese mixture by hand; spread into the prepared pan.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until kugel is lightly browned and firm, 45 to 50 minutes.

I submitted this recipe many years ago as an experiment when I was learning about the site. It is awful. Do not make it. I tried to delete, but it keeps reappearing. Sorry everyone.

I was so excited to make this and was expecting so much more. Non of my guest liked it and they all tried it. To bland, the texture was off.Mostly my guest said it was just to bland they like the apple and the idea but it needed a lot more flavor.
