Slow Cooker Northern White Bean

  4.7 – 7 reviews

Use this simple recipe to learn how to crockpot-cook white beans. Great Northern beans are prepared in a slow cooker with chicken broth, smoked neck bones, flavorful veggies, and seasonings. Most dried beans can be cooked in a slow cooker using this procedure. When boiling beans with tough shells, like pinto beans, adjust the liquid. As desired, taste and add more garlic and onion powder.

I loved this recipe. I did a “quick soak” of my dried beans (cover beans with water, bring to a boil, cover, remove from heat, and let them sit for one hour). While they were soaking, I cooked 2 ham hocks in the chicken broth (that’s what I had on hand). I didn’t have any “soul seasoning”, but I looked it up and just sprinkled those ingredients into it. I didn’t have time for the slow cooker, so I just cooked them on top of the stove. These were probably the best beans I’ve ever cooked. Next time, I’ll try it in my slow cooker. My new favorite recipe.

I love this soup! I go to Honey Baked Ham and purchase a hambone, they don’t always have them, but when they do, they are awesome. Just the right amount of ham is left in the bone and it has awesome flavor!

Thank you I really like this bean soup!! I did replace the neck bones with ham hocks and use cayenne pepper instead of the hot sauce.

Nice and easy bean soup. I added carrots and celery because we like them and it seems to add a little something more to the beans.

This recipe looks great! I actually tried something like this a while back, and this just brought back so many nostalgic memories, haha! I love cooking stuff like this. I always try to find new recipes on forums and I got great ones emailed to me from http://lovelyrecipesforyou.weebly.com and I genuinely enjoy them. Anyways, thanks for posting this dish, I really need to make this more often!
