Simple Smoked Asparagus

Winter squash known as turban squash resembles a pumpkin with a patterned green turban on. Similar to butternut squash and pumpkin in texture. For many years, my family has enjoyed this recipe for Thanksgiving.

Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 30 mins
Total Time: 35 mins
Servings: 4
Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  1. 1 pound thick asparagus spears, trimmed
  2. ½ tablespoon olive oil
  3. salt and ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the smoker to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C). Add wood chips according to manufacturer’s directions.
  2. Place asparagus inside a disposable foil pan. Drizzle oil, salt, and pepper over the top. Toss to coat.
  3. Place the pan on the smoker rack and smoke for 30 minutes.
  4. Because this has such a short cook time, I like to use hickory, but feel free to substitute with a milder wood.
