An excellent side dish for any holiday dinner. Additionally, it can be used as a dessert or brunch. Instead of bitter or sour apples, choose a sweet kind.

Ingredients

  1. cooking spray
  2. 1 pound ground beef
  3. 2 cups chopped onion
  4. 2 (16 ounce) cans pork and beans
  5. 1 (16 ounce) can kidney beans, drained
  6. 1 cup ketchup
  7. ¾ cup brown sugar
  8. 2 tablespoons mustard
  9. 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  10. 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a casserole dish with cooking spray.
  2. Cook and stir ground beef and onion in a skillet over medium heat until beef is browned and onions are translucent, 10 to 15 minutes. Drain well.
  3. Mix pork and beans, kidney beans, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, vinegar, and salt in a large bowl. Stir hamburger mixture into bean mixture. Pour hamburger-bean mixture into prepared casserole dish.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until bubbling, about 45 minutes.

Everyone Loved it! I cut down the pork and beans to 1 can and then cut back the sauce ingredients. Next time I’ll double the meat and kidney beans and leave the pork and beans at 2. Family wanted more leftovers.
