Hamburg, Germany is the origin of this recipe, which is named “Bohnen und Birnen mit Speck.” It is a great riff on a classic meal.

Ingredients
- 1 (16 ounce) package whole mushrooms

- toothpicks
Instructions
- Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat and lightly oil the grate.
- Clean and dry mushrooms. Wrap 1 strip of bacon around each mushroom and secure with a toothpick.
- Place mushrooms on the preheated grill. Cook, turning often, until bacon is browned and crisp, about 10 minutes.
- These can also be cooked in a toaster oven or under the broiler.
- Serving size varies depending on quantity versus guests. I usually serve at least 4 mushrooms per serving.
- The Children loves to help out on wrapping the mushrooms and they love to eat them all so.

They are incredible and so very easy
As stated….big hit with the happy our crew
This was a good recipe. I added brown sugar on top of the bacon before I put them on the grill. Once I removed them frm the grill, I added Real Maple syrup,-
These are good but I do have one recommendation. Pre-cook your bacon on a foil lined sheet for 10 minutes in your oven at 400 degrees F. This way your bacon gets good and crisp on the grill without overcooking your mushrooms, there is still plenty of grease left to be rendered to soften and flavor the mushrooms, and yet enough grease has already rendered out that it won’t set the grill a blaze. With that said, these are simple and have plenty of flavor.
