Despite the fact that I have always been skilled at sautéing asparagus, this is one of my preferred ways to make a sweet and conventional snack.

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter, or more as needed
- 1 bunch asparagus, trimmed
- 1 teaspoon honey
- ⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
- ⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Cook asparagus in melted butter, stirring a few times, until tender, 6 to 8 minutes.
- Drizzle honey over the asparagus and stir to coat; season with garlic powder and cayenne pepper.
- If you find the asparagus sticks to the pan, you can add up to 1 tablespoon butter more while cooking.
- For a healthier alternative, use 2 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil instead of butter.

GREAT RECIPE LOVED THE FLAVOR, I USED EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL INSTEAD OF BUTTER.
I love a recipe that comes together so quickly and uses so few ingredients. You do need to be careful to evenly distribute the cayenne. I had one piece with lots of heat and many others with no heat. To the reviewer who said they were stringy. You most likely did not snap off the woody ends. If you bend an asparagus spear from the bottom it will reach a natural breaking point. That breaking point is variable depending on the spear. You can discard it or save it for your vegetable stock.
My absolute favorite way to prepare asparagus— delicious!
I had never thought to use honey with aspargus. I took the recipe as more of a technique guide, added a dash of sea salt and then honey, garlic and cayenne to taste. It was delightful, will definitely make again, maybe play with the spices.
Very good! Reviewer Woody, maybe you did not break off the woody (no pun intended), tough tips before you cooked the asparagus. That’s what the recipe author meant by “trim” the asparagus. Usually the stalks just break off at a natural point – you can kind of feel it. If no one has taught you this, you wouldn’t know to do it.
This is actually really good and very easy to make. My kids usually don’t like asparagus but they love this. Very easy to make too, I have all ingredients in my kitchen so no need to get anything extra for this. This is how I will make asparagus from now on.
This recipe is no joke! My husband doesn’t like asparagus, but really likes this. The sweet and slightly smoky spiciness of it is so amazing! I made it the very first time for a holiday dinner, and I’ve been making it all the time ever since. Whenever there is asparagus at the store, I grab some and make this. I’ve made it so many times, I’ve got the ingredients and their quantities memorized.
Very easy and very delicious!!
This is a lovely way to eat asparagus. The light sweetness of the honey is delicious. I made the recipe as it was written.
Great Asparagus!!!! I made no changes and will not make any in the future. It was perfect, and my husband ate the stalks which he never does.
I made it and it was tough and stringy to eat. I’m sure I did something wrong, lol
It is SO good!
easy and great taste! not usually a fan of honey, but works perfectly with this.
Simple and delicious. I had some beet greens to use up so I added those at the end. It was perfect.
Tasty
Super easy, and super tasty. There wasn’t an asparagus spear left in the pan – that’s high praise with my family! 🙂
I followed the recipe exactly, although I added additional butter when cooking the asparagus. It was perfect. A great recipe that is saved to my favorites that I will definitely make again
First time making this, only change virgin olive oil, came out great, complimented my fish very well
I will never make asparagus any other way ever again!! I love it! My kids love it! Yum!!
I loved this! I used all organic items, subbed butter for olive oil.. was delish!!
Delicious! I didn’t have garlic powder so I used a different seasoning. It came out great. I will make this again and again for sure!
