Broccoli with Garlic Butter and Cashews

  4.6 – 0 reviews  • Broccoli

a fresh dish our neighbor brought us. How well-liked by my family. Our preferred side dish of broccoli was served with the perfect amount of garlic and cashews. And it’s so simple to make! I haven’t tried it, but if you’re in a need, you could definitely use frozen broccoli as well.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 20 mins

Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

  1. 1 ½ pounds fresh broccoli, cut into bite size pieces
  2. ⅓ cup butter
  3. 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  4. 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  5. 2 teaspoons white vinegar
  6. ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  7. 2 cloves garlic, minced
  8. ⅓ cup chopped salted cashews

Instructions

  1. Place the broccoli into a large pot with about 1 inch of water in the bottom. Bring to a boil, and cook for 7 minutes, or until tender but still crisp. Drain, and arrange broccoli on a serving platter.
  2. While the broccoli is cooking, melt the butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Mix in the brown sugar, soy sauce, vinegar, pepper and garlic. Bring to a boil, then remove from the heat. Mix in the cashews, and pour the sauce over the broccoli. Serve immediately.

I am not usually a fan of broccoli but this is quick and easy to make, and is delicious! I do only steam the broccoli for five to six minutes instead of the seven recommended.

my broccoli was softer than i liked because i removed water and left lid on while preparing the sauce. sauce was not a favorite in my house but is was a change in favor and everyone ate it.

Minus doubling the garlic – cuz I love garlic! – made as written and this turned out phenomenal! It was so easy, so good and could accompany any main dish! Great recipe Salsipie!

Extremely delicious. It had a deep flavor I never knew broccoli could have. The cashews definitely added some depth and texture that really elevated the recipe.

I liked the taste very much!

I make it with baby bok choy instead of broccoli ~ delicious!

This was good. A little too strong with the vinegar I think but still good.

This was so good! Needed a quick way to make broccoli for a family dinner. My 12 yr old daughter was able to follow this recipe without any help and it came out amazing. The whole family loved it and it was the first thing gone on the buffet. People complained that we didn’t make enough! Next time I will try mixing in other veggies like carrots or zucchini and some chicken and it would be a whole meal.

Loved this broccoli! This recipe fits well with my keto diet, substituting for the brown sugar with swerve brown sugar

Very tasty. I put the broccoli in the iven for a bit to give the outside a little crisp

Very tasty, and easy to cut down to two portions. This being said i probably only cut the remaining ingredients by half to add to a 1/2# of Broccoli So mine had a good amount of sauce. Also I steam the broccoli and “tossed” everything in a tupperware.

I made this for a small family get together. I wasn’t sure what it was going to taste like so I made the disclaimer that it was my 1st time making this. Oh my goodness, I should have made more.

Seriously…. you need to try this. This came out like an amazing restaurant side! Totally dig it and so did the family. This is a no brainer. I’ll be making this again soon. Only difference was I used organic raw cashews with no salt. Still perfect!

I made it exactly as written except I did not steam the broccoli that long. Everyone loves this recipe. I have made it w/out the cashews and it is still great.

I love this recipe. The last time I made this I roasted the broccoli instead of steaming. It stayed crispier and retained a brighter green color. I sometimes add a rosemary seasoned cashew as well which adds good flavor.

The best – make it all the time – best served hot!!

I made this recipe exactly as directed. Really quick, easy and tasty! Other reviewers mentioned that it had an Asian flavor, so instead of using the sauce on broccoli alone, I used it on a main dish. In a large skillet, I combined the steamed broccoli with cooked lo mein noodles (could use linguini) and a drained can of water chestnuts. I added some leftover steamed shrimp, stirring them in just long enough to warm but not overcook. I poured the sauce over it all, stirring lightly to coat everything. It was delicious and made a big hit.

Easy to make and tasted fantastic! I made it as a side dish for an impromptu post-thanksgiving gathering. Easy to make and everyone raved about it… I steamed the broccoli, but otherwise followed the recipe.

Super easy, amazing taste. Made just as described. Thanks for sharing!
