Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons crab boil seasoning, plus more if needed
- 2 lemons, cut in half
- 4 pounds new potatoes
- 2 pounds kielbasa sausage, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 2 onions, quartered
- 4 ears corn, cut in half
- 4 pounds large shrimp, shell on
- 1 stick (8 tablespoons) unsalted butter, melted
- Cornbread, for serving
Instructions
- Fill a large pot with water, then add the crab boil seasoning (depending on the size of pot, you may need to adjust the seasoning to your taste) and lemons and bring to a boil (this can be done on a grill or indoors). Add the potatoes, kielbasa and onions and cook until the potatoes are tender, about 15 minutes. Add the corn and cook an additional 5 minutes. Add the shrimp and cook until just cooked through, 2 to 3 minutes.
- Drain and serve immediately with the melted butter and cornbread.

This sounds fabulous! I’ve made others and I’ve always thought they were bland. Probably not enough flavor in the pot of water.
In this recipe, there are only 3T of the seasoning, plus the lemons, then the onion quarters. For those who have made this, do you think the seasoning was enough? I couldn’t tell how big Katie’s pot was or how much water. And it looked like she almost ran out of room.
Any thoughts, or suggestions? Thanks.

I made this over the weekend and the melted butter rocked it!!!! Thanks so much for sharing this great recipe!!!!
Really great, fresh tasting shrimp boil. Honestly – I’m normally not a big fan of shrimp boils – but really enjoyed this. We used de-veined and peeled shrimp which I really preferred. And cut back on the butter just a bit and poured it over the boil and stirred it in rather than serving it as an accompaniment.
Loved it. Will make again.
Had to make mine separate as I have food allergies especially lemon and nothing with MSG!
in seasonings!Lotys of Butter, I am in heaven now!
No hospital for me tonight! Hubby had to have plate and fork! Great dish for something different though!Lots of warm crusty bread for dipping too!Q Then Hot fudge pudding cake for dessert! Jess HMMMM HMMMM GOOD!

Always a hit!
Fantastic & easy to make! I used the McCormick shrimp & crab boil pouches and the flavor was fabulous! I previously used a liquid crab boil that was way too spicy! I followed the cook times exactly as stated & everything was great!
This was delicious! Added my Cajun rub because I couldn’t find crab spice or Old Bay. Finished with a handful of baby spinach, served with pan seared scallops and keto cornbread. Phenomenal, will make it again!
My husband and I tried this recipe, was way easy, we loved it! Will do it again for Family next time!
This dish is such a crowd pleaser! Such a fun beach meal. Be sure you have enough corn halves for everyone, it’s a favorite:-)
The water takes awhile to come to a boil, so plan time for that, and get the potatoes almost done before proceeding.
Serve it in a big pan if you don’t want to spread it on newspaper. I serve it with hushpuppies from the frozen food section.
If you ever wonder what you should make for a large group, this is it.
