A salmon fillet baked in foil has an Asian flavor thanks to a sweet and salty blend of honey, soy, garlic, and ginger.

Prep Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 20 mins
Total Time: 35 mins
Servings: 16
Yield: 1 4-pound fillet

Ingredients

  1. heavy-duty aluminum foil
  2. ½ cup honey
  3. 8 cloves garlic, minced
  4. 4 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  5. 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  6. 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  7. 2 tablespoons freshly grated ginger
  8. 2 teaspoons Sriracha sauce
  9. freshly ground black pepper to taste
  10. 1 (4 pound) salmon fillet
  11. 4 stalks green onion, thinly sliced
  12. 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with heavy-duty foil.
  2. Whisk honey, garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, Sriracha, and pepper together in a bowl.
  3. Place salmon on the prepared baking sheet and fold up the sides of the foil. Spoon the honey mixture over the salmon. Cover with another sheet of foil and crimp edges to seal.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until fish flakes easily with a fork, 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and turn on the broiler.
  5. Remove the top piece of foil and broil until caramelized and slightly charred, 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. Garnish with green onion and sesame seeds.

Really tasty salmon, and easy to make too. I used thick center-cut filet pieces, and even so, they didn’t need the full cook time. I baked the salmon for 15 and broiled for 2, but next time I would bake 13, then broil for 2. Or maybe just bake uncovered the whole time for some nice color. Regardless, it was delicious and I’ll make it again.

A definite keeper. Easy, quick and flavorful. I substituted red pepper flake for the sriracha sauce. I omitted the sesame seeds and onion garnish. I also divided my piece of salmon into individual portions and wrapped them separately in individual foil packets. I will make this again soon.
