I was really disappointed. Mine turned out dry even though they seemed moist enough without the extra liquid. Maybe I cooked them until they were too brown. My husband liked them. My mother used to use saltine crackers instead of bread crumbs which I will try next time. Also, I saw a lot of recipes using mayo. Anyone else try that?
My Mom used to make Salman cakes when I was a little boy. I haven’t had them for at least 40 years. I looked up this recipe. I added some mayo to the mix and some green pepper old bay seasoning. I used club crackers. Boy oh boy!!!!!! They came out perfect. I cooked them for 3 other people and they loved them as well!!!!! Thanks for the recipe!!!!!!!
Same recipe my grandmother taught me. She always made with 2 eggs instead of one. You don’t need any additional liquid when you use 2 eggs. If you make one can into 4 Patties it’s the perfect size to eat on a bun with a big slice of tomato, which is what she always did. I don’t eat bread crumbs anymore so now I substitute with crushed up pork rinds and added oregano, garlic powder and black pepper to replace the seasoned bread crumbs. They were delish!
I used crushed ritz crackers instead of bread crumbs and added diced jalapeño! It was delicious.
I followed the recipe exactly and had to add a lot of liquid. Turned out very moist and tasty though. Next time I’ll start with fewer breadcrumbs and add as needed.
I love it but I did add white cheddar cheese crackers to it instead of breadcrumbs. It turned out delicious
I substituted canned salmon for fresh leftover baked salmon from a previous meal. It was great!
I made this. After reading some reviews, changed up a little also.used a-1, i tsp, brown mustard and made a korean sauce for topping or dipping. added brown sugar to the sauce to lessen the saltiness. outstanding!
Loved them. Easy to fix. Easy to love.
I added worshtershire sauce for a little zip works great.
Egg to bread crumbs is the equation that decides whether they fall apart. Too many breads means not enough sticky egg to hold them together. So then throw in another egg. Don’t cook on too high because the centers won’t cook and the outsides start to burn first. I used the missus wife version but added a bunch of chopped up cilantro.
I really love this recipe. It is very simple with ingredients I can eat and I can freeze them.
Super easy to make and everyone loved them. I didnt have dry seasoned bread crumbs so I used crushed ritz crackers instead. I also used the suggestions made by missus wife review.
Followed recipe as written. They were moist when placing Pattie’s into skillet. As I turned them over, they fell apart. I mean to say I ended up with salmon patties that looked like scrambled eggs. They were delicious though. Not very appealing. Any suggestions? They could have used some salt.
I use to make salmon patties often, but it’s been years, closer to a decade since I’ve made them. So, I had to look for a recipe to refresh my memory. These were pretty bland, so adding salt, pepper, and seasoning to your taste would be a suggestion. Other than that, they were fine. My picky 9 year old liked them and his grandpa loved them. Like I said, need more flavor. Made with yummy cheese grits!
I like to add a few dashes of Old Bay seasoning. But Sue’s recipe is a great one to follow if you’ve never made salmon patties before. You can leave it as is or add anything else you like to the recipe. Thanks for sharing Sue!
I also Added 2 tablespoons finely chopped ginger root, 2 12 teaspoons sweet relish, lite salt and pepper. I didn’t have olive oil so i used canola oil. Turned out very good. Thank you for the simply recipe and some of the reviews helped me out.
This recipe is simple—it allows the salmon to take center stage. Love it.
I loved these! Big hit for a different dinner experience. I made a few changes such as using Ritz crackers instead of bread crumbs. I added salt , pepper, onion powder and a splash of lemon juice. I fried them on med-low heat for 10minutes. Served them with a side of cheese grits! Awesomeness on a plate.
So easy. Thank you.
Amazing!
