Reviews
I had all the ingredients, so decided to try this out. The flavor was pretty good, may have been missing a little something, but overall 4 stars for flavor. The patties, however, would not hold together. The first one I made fell apart in the skillet, even with being quite careful when flipping. The next one I tried refrigerating for about 30 minutes. I was able to keep it from falling apart in the skillet, but once assembled as a burger, it completely fell apart, just from the handling of the burger. With each bite, it became more difficult to eat, to the point I just took the burger apart and ate the salmon patty bits. I might make these again as salmon cakes to eat on their own, but definitely not as a burger. Also, you’re going to want to MINCE the onion, not just SLICE it. Next time I would also pulse the oats a bit in a food processor to get rid of the large oat pieces.
Been experimenting with ‘salmon burger’ recipes for some time: imo, this version gave me the best burger to date! I think the key ingredient is ‘rolled oats’- adds great texture. Have used corn meal, bread crumbs – never came out this good. Slight changes: 1/2 cup oats + 1/4 cup Italian bread crumbs, ~ 6 finely-chopped garlic cloves, 2 eggs, spicy brown mustard instead of Dijon, tspn turmeric & tspn cumin, dash soy and hot sauce. Brown in frying pan over medium heat 15 mins till bottom is browned/top firm – flip – another ~ 10 min. Top with Lettuce, mayo on a toasted Kaiser Roll – fast, simple, delicious!
Poured a little hot stock over the oats to moisten a little. Used dry onion flakes, I didn’t have a fresh one, no salt. I used a salmon filet that I cooked previously. So it had lemon already. Also tried a champagne garlic mustard that i had opened. Topped with melted jarlsberg. Very tasty.
Loved it. Added red peppers for a bit of color.
Very easy receipe and it is also gluten free because it uses rolled oats and not wheat
This is only so so for us.
Used what I had. Didn’t have lemon juice, so I subbed pickled jalapeño juice. Patties didn’t stay together for me, so it was more of a crumble bowl. Added a side of herbed sour cream.
these are delicious. even my picky hubby loves them. i did substitute 1/4 cup italian bread crumbs for the rolled oats, and used a little onion powder instead of onions. i used avocado oil for the oil.
This is a very easy and tasty alternative to a normal hamburger. Everyone loved it including our cat, who, I gave a very tiny piece.

Love these! So easy and tasty! I increased the lemon juice and Dijon mustard a little just because I like a little more zing. They were perfect. I find myself craving these often!
Very good and easy!
Really easy and delicious!!
Used 420g tin of tuna instead of salmon (only because I had one in pantry. Followed recipe but added 1/2 tsp turmeric and 1 clove crushed garlic.
I followed the recipe exactly. My husband though they were good. I thought they were dry and a little bland. They fell apart in the skillet.
Loved it! So easy and very tasty with excellent flavor. I added half a seeded jalapeno and a chopped celery stalk, plus a tablespoon of mayo, and they came out perfect. Definitely my go-to recipe from now on!
I try to review recipes only if I make them as written. In this case, I did need to make some slight alterations but I don’t think they really impacted the recipe or my review. I used green onions instead of a regular onion, for instance. No big deal. I didn’t have any lemon and I knew it really needed the lemon flavor, so I put in about a teaspoon of mayonnaise. As many have suggested, it could have used another egg. I figure the mayonnaise covered both the lemon and the egg! They held together nicely, and I was able to get five patties out of the recipe. It was a really quick and easy dinner to pull together, and I served it on top of a Caesar salad, the dressing of which complimented the patties nicely. .My only drawback is that I really tasted the uncooked oats. Maybe next time I will try grinding them a little. I really liked not having to use breadcrumbs to make them gluten-free.
Yummy I made as is. I ate mine without a bun and put a little plain greek yogurt on top. My family ate them on buns with lettuce and tomato.
Easy recipe and very tasty, surprisingly my husband liked it ??
This was so quick and easy! The only thing I added was fresh dill (just because I had some). So very yummy!
I made this with some Chinook Salmon I caught and canned from the Trask river in Oregon. I added crushed pineapple, green pepper, some McCormick spices, and I used two eggs and had to add Ritz crackers to get it to make a good patty. I also used Kingsford BBQ sauce instead of Dijon mustered. It made 8 patties and was great. Now I have a recipe I can use to use up all my canned salmon.
