- 1 ½ cups orange juice
- 6 tablespoons butter, softened
- ¾ cup panko bread crumbs
- 3 tablespoons orange juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh basil

- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

- Bake in preheated oven until the liquid is bubbling and the fish flakes easily with a fork, about 15 minutes.

I made this according to the recipe. The tilapia preparation is pretty straightforward. The sauce really makes the dish. My husband loved it, and he’s kind of “meh” on fish most of the time. The sauce would be good on just a chicken or pork cutlet prepared in a similar fashion
It was delicious!! I will make this again. Recipe was great combination.
I was concerned about how the breading was going to turn out, but it was great! The whole family loved it, even our 2-year-old daughter
Simple and good. Didn’t have orange juice so used what I had on hand which was pineapple juice. Didn’t have time to marinate which prob would be so good, but I dry rubbed with the spices then poured the juice around then basted half way through. Great base recipe that can be modified with what’s on stock!
Delish! I made this tonight and loved it! I am currently doing WW (weight watchers) so I substituted ‘I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter’ spray for the butter. Also, I didn’t have just orange juice, so I used pineapple orange juice and marinated about 4 hours. I used regular bread crumbs and minced garlic. A delicious recipe that’s easy to make!
This was pretty tasty. I think I put more garlic in than called for and that made it extra tasty. I also added grated orange rind zest to the bread crumbs which gave it a nice orange flavor. Generally a great recipe. Oh…I cooked it a bit longer since I had alot in the pan, they were still great and the top was nice and crispy.
It was a nice, easy dish that turned out pretty tasty. I would have added salt and pepper to the marinated filets before putting the butter mixture on top. I don’t know, but I needed to add another 10 minutes to my baking to get my fish to be flakey.
This was just okay. I put some orange zest in ours for a more pronounced orange flavor, which was great. What we didn’t care for was the topping, it took putting the oven on broil for 5 minutes to get it to brown. I think I would omit the 1/2 cup extra of orange juice that it cooks in, next time. Otherwise taste wise this was good.
Good basic to start from – added orange zest, red pepper flakes, dried basil, tumeric, salt & pepper to marinade. Saved the marinade to do the reduction suggested by others….used less butter with breadcrumbs. Served it over a bed of lightly sauteed swiss chard that I poured the reduced marinade over. Lovely, light flavor – with a bit more complexity from adding spices. Everyone loved it – will make again.
Tilapia is a pretty bland fish, flavor-wise, but this had a lovely hint of orange. The panko crumbs gave it a nice soft crunch. I will definitely add this to the dinner rotation.
Pastey and mushy
I made this today and it is excellent just as the recipe goes
I made this and substituted fresh squeezed ruby red grapefruit juice for the orange juice. It was really good. My 11 year old said it just disappeared off her plate. Using fresh squeezed juice gives you little chunks of pulp and they just added more flavor to the end result. Only marinated for a couple of hours, it was still full of flavor.
This was not all that well received by my gang. Too much orange flavour they said. We won’t make it again
I marinated for about 20 hours and it was very very sour! Maybe if I tweaked the recipe a little I’d have better luck but wasn’t a fan
Great recipe! Was looking for something different than the norm to make for dinner. This recipe was simple & delicious. I used a peach mango juice instead of OJ because it’s what I had on hand. I was pleasantly surprised that the juice was not an overpowering flavor despite letting the fish soak in it overnight. I also used fresh basil from my garden, just cut it in small pieces. I had to bake the fish a little longer than what the recipe called for. I will definitely make again.
Fantastic!
Really good just the way it was written. Thank you for sharing,
My husband loved this!
Look a little bit longer than 15 minutes to cook but I did 6 filets. It was awesome!
I’m not a fish lover by any means, but I eat it because it’s good for me. But this recipe made the tilapia delicious mainly I think because of the breadcrumb topping. Two small changes I made were I didn’t use as much orange juice as called for (1/2 cup) just before putting into oven, and when I made the panko topping I melted the butter instead of softening it (that seemed like it would make it too difficult to sprinkle on top of the fish). Next time I would make a little more of the topping it was so good. I served it with a Watercress, Avocado and Orange Salad recipe I found on the Food Network site. Beautiful presentation, and very refreshing!
