Cajun- and citrus-seasoned baked tilapia is served with a dill and lemon cream sauce.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 20 mins
Total Time: 30 mins
Servings: 4
Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  1. 4 (4 ounce) fillets tilapia
  2. salt and pepper to taste
  3. 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning, or to taste
  4. 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  5. ¼ cup mayonnaise
  6. ½ cup sour cream
  7. ⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
  8. 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  9. 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Season the tilapia fillets with salt, pepper and Cajun seasoning on both sides. Arrange the seasoned fillets in a single layer in the baking dish. Place a layer of lemon slices over the fish fillets. I usually use about 2 slices on each piece so that it covers most of the surface of the fish.
  3. Bake uncovered for 15 to 20 minutes in the preheated oven, or until fish flakes easily with a fork.
  4. While the fish is baking, mix together the mayonnaise, sour cream, garlic powder, lemon juice and dill in a small bowl. Serve with tilapia.

I followed the recipe nearly exactly save for using dried dill (I didn’t have fresh). Both the fish and the sauce were good, although I only baked it for 10 minutes–fish nearly always cooks quicker than the time listed in my experience. It wasn’t amazing though. I don’t think I’ll make this again, or if I do I might try frying the fish the way another reviewer did, and maybe making the sauce a day ahead so the flavors mix together better.

This was delicious! I added a bit more lemon then called for in the dill sauce, and it was amazing!

The recipe worked out great can’t wait to try it out again maybe with my own twist it.

Like many others said, without the sauce it is pretty ordinary. It gets to be pretty decent with the sauce!

Loved the sauce! The tilapia was a little bland but delicious. Quick, easy and wonderful recipe. Will make this again.

This was great! I cooked it on the grill on foil with butter and it was Perfect. The fish was moist and fell apart if I didn’t get the whole spatula underneath. Of course the dill sauce was good. To balance the healthiness of fish, that sauce is a great potato chip dip too ??

The seasoning on this was perfect. I did not have lemon slices, but I did have some juice. I put a dash of juice on each piece of fish and covered it with a sheet of parchment to keep it from drying out. Loved the sauce!

I made this for dinner this evening for the first time and it was delicious!! The only thing I changed was added a little more lemon to the dill sauce. So yummy. Will make it again!

I love this recipe and have made this dish for years!

I liked it well enough, I was actually concerned it would be too spicy for my boyfriend – but it honestly didn’t have any spice once it was cooked. I plan to make it again sometime – this time with a lot more Cajun seasoning.

I also used cooked on the stove, covered, to maintain moisture and have better control over the cooking. Will make again

I made this last night with a few changes, but it was still delicious! I used the dried dill weed instead of fresh in the sauce. I also didn’t have any Cajun seasoning so I sprinkled red pepper flakes on the fish. I will definitely make this again!

Delicious! We used rock bass that was freshly caught by a neighbor, and the timing was perfect (though we cooked longer, for a total of 25 minutes). Make sure not to scrimp on the dill! We served with broccoli and roasted potatoes, very healthy, filling and delish!

Followed the directions quite closely. Used Spiceology Cajun rub. Used non-fat Greek yogurt instead of sour cream, and dry dill weed since I had no fresh. Served with brown basmati rice and salad. Wine was Viognier.

I love the creamy dill sauce. I have used it on salmon. Went over well even with my kiddo.
