Chile-Garlic Shrimp

  4.6 – 63 reviews  • Shrimp

One of my all-time favorite recipes, it may be served as a starter or a major dish. The entire family enjoys the excellent shrimp that my wife and I have been preparing for a few years.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 5 mins
Total Time: 15 mins
Servings: 4
Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  1. 1 pound uncooked medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
  2. 1 (1.6 oz) package buffalo wing seasoning mix (such as McCormick® Original Buffalo Wings Seasoning Mix)
  3. 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
  4. 2 teaspoons bottled minced garlic
  5. ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  6. ¼ cup coarsely chopped fresh cilantro
  7. 2 teaspoons lime juice
  8. 4 lime wedges, for garnish (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the shrimp with cold water and pat dry with paper towls. Add the shrimp and seasoning mix to a plastic bag and shake to coat.
  2. Heat the butter, garlic, and red pepper flakes in a large skillet over medium heat until the butter has melted. Raise the heat to medium-high; when the butter begins to pop and sizzle add the shrimp to the pan. Cook and stir the shrimp until they are bright pink on the outside and the meat is no longer transparent in the center, about 4 to 5 minutes. Do not overcook.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the cilantro and lime juice. Garnish with lime wedges and serve hot.

Deliciously spicy! I made it as a meal with rice on the side and a simply dressed salad. I added a sprinkle of cotija cheese on top. My husband said it’s one of the best things I’ve ever made. I messed up by buying flat leaf parsley instead of cilantro….honest mistake. I’ll just have to make it again.

Made this recipe as is. Served as a lite dinner. Fantastic. Will definitely make again, and even serve as an appetizer. Love it!

SO SIMPLE AND DELICIOUS! I made this recipe last night for my family and they loved it. It had just the right amount of heat and a great depth of flavor. Unfortunately, I only had salted butter so it was a little saltier than I like. So, follow the directions and use unsalted butter. When you toss it with the fresh lime juice and cilantro, you end up with shrimp that has a lot of depth of flavor. I’m definitely going to try this on my charcoal grill next summer. I think that it would even be good as an appetizer if you chill the shrimp after they are cooked and serve it with salsa and/or lime crema to dip the shrimp into

I made this following the recipe. My husband likes spice but I do not. However, this recipe was good and easy. I will make it again. I served it with gluten free rotini noodles, broccoli and a salad with ranch dressing. The ranch dressing on the salad allowed me to “cool” my bites, My husband loved it.

It was great. I will be making this a lot as I am a shrimp fanatic.

Wow! Great recipe! However, I found that if you replace the cilantro with zucchini peels it tastes a lot better. It gives those shrimp an extra kick of flavour!

10.31.21 Tender, succulent shrimp with a tangy sauce and a little kick of spiciness. What a nice recipe made with so little effort. Your cook time will depend on the size of the shrimp, just be sure not to overcook. I used garlic paste in a tube (Gourmet Garden®) instead of bottled minced garlic and served with Classic Fried Rice, another recipe from this site.

Had to use garlic powder and red pepper substitutes but it was still good.

So simple and good! We’re not huge spicy people so I skipped the red pepper flakes and it was plenty spicy for us. I couldn’t find the buffalo chicken mix so I ordered it on Amazon. Glad it was good because I had to buy six packages there. The only other change I may try next time is fresh garlic instead of the bottled minced stuff. I just served it with rice and it was a simple tasty dinner. Will add this to our regular rotation.

Very good, even though I didn’t have cilantro. My husband stood at the stove and ate it out of the pan.

It was amazing. Substituted 3 tablespoons of oil and 2 tablespoons of butter instead of 5 tablespoons butter for a more healthier approach. Still turned out amazing

Very happy with how this came out. Slightly spicey but very delicious. Makes an excellent compliment to a salad.
