Ingredients
- ¼ cup olive oil, divided
- 1 (8 ounce) package angel hair pasta
- 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
- 1 pound large shrimp – peeled and deveined
- 2 (28 ounce) cans Italian-style diced tomatoes, drained
- ½ cup dry white wine
- ¼ cup chopped parsley
- 3 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
- 3 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of water and 1 tablespoon olive oil to a boil. Add pasta and cook until al dente; drain and rinse.
- Heat remaining olive oil in a 10-inch skillet over medium heat. Cook garlic, stirring constantly, until the garlic is tender, about 1 minute. Add shrimp, and cook for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove shrimp and set aside.
- Stir in tomatoes, wine, parsley, and basil; continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until liquid is reduced by half, about 8 to 12 minutes. Add shrimp and continue cooking until the shrimp are heated through, about 2 to 3 minutes.
- Serve the shrimp mixture over the pasta. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

This was a really nice, simple dish with a few modifications. I used about 1/4 of the tomatoes called for and more pasta. I also added the fresh basil at the end which really enhanced the flavor of the dish.

I used 3 cans of regular diced tomatoes and added 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning. Also salt & pepper to taste & red pepper flakes 1/4 teaspoon

I didn’t have any wine but I think it would have been better with it!
Quick & easy. Nice, light meal with good flavors. Increased minced garlic (x3), and added chopped onion, mushrooms and Greek olives (all sautéd lightly in olive oil). Also added extra spices (dried Italian spice, thyme, salt, black pepper). Didn’t have wine, but substituted red wine vinegar and a little sugar. Would have rated recipe a 5, but it was a bit bland without the additions.
This dish has become known as “Christmas Eve Pasta” in my home because 5 years ago I made this dish, and everyone was crazy about it. Simple, fresh ingredients, and so easy to make: don’t let the simple nature of this recipe make you think it’s not a dish for special occasions. Exactly the opposite! My family likes to serve feta cheese at the table to add if you want, instead of, or in addition to, the parm cheese. We also make seared scallops as an option to add to the dish & serve at the table (because thats my Moms fave seafood). Thank you to whoever shared this recipe….it’s become a Christmas tradition, along wih a nice salad, crusty toasted sourdough bread for mopping, and if you have picky kids (like I do) I just make extra pasta & serve them simple spaghetti, noodles with butter and parm or noodles w/ a store bought fettuccine sauce.

Had everything but wine, added mushrooms and used alfredo sauce and it turned out great.
This was excellent and so easy! I accidentally used a can of crushed tomatoes because I didn’t read the recipe right! Anyway, it turned out great! I added Italian seasoning, and a teaspoon of sugar, salt and fresh ground pepper. I halved the recipe. Delish!

VERY good recipe. The flavors were well balanced and vibrant. Fresh herbs are an absolute with this recipe. The only things I changed was due to personal preference–I added more garlic and I didn’t cook the shrimp as long as the recipe called for as they get rubbery, in my opinion. My family will enjoy this one over and over.
Left out the tomatoes, added lemon juice, asparagus, no brocolli and some garlic and herb cream cheese to the sauce, was delicious. Added canned 2%milk to the sauce instead of cream. Used a 2 pound package of very large shrimp . Will make this dish again
I followed the recipe exactly plus I added 1/2 cup of half and half before adding the shrimp back into the tomato sauce – just to increase the richness of the dish. It was delicious! Thanks for the yummy recipe!
I made this exactly as the recipe stated but other than the fact that it is fast and easy to make, I didn’t find the taste that good. It was OK but certainly didn’t live up to the reviews that some people gave it. I think if I had used fresh tomatoes it would have tasted better but then it would not be as fast!
Delicious! Followed the recipe exactly but for the tomatoes — if using less than a pound of pasta you will only need 1- 28 oz can of tomatoes. I used 2 -14.5oz cans – one was “fire roasted,” which I definitely recommend. Hubby & I loved this… it’s a perfect, ‘quick & easy’ midweek meal.
Very good and easy to make
