Waffled Biscuits and Sausage Gravy

  4.5 – 11 reviews  • Sausage Recipes
Waffling biscuits adds a lot more crispy surface area and creates the perfect nooks for the sausage gravy to pool in. This would also work with your favorite homemade cut biscuit dough.

Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  1. 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  2. 8 ounces breakfast sausage, removed from casings
  3. 2 scallions, whites and greens sliced separately
  4. 2 scallions, whites and greens sliced separately
  5. 1 small clove garlic, minced
  6. 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
  7. Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  8. 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  9. 1 cup milk
  10. 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  11. 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  12. 8 rounds store-bought biscuit dough

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sausage and cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the scallion whites, garlic, allspice, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper; stir for 30 seconds. Add the flour and stir until toasted, about 1 minute. Pour in the milk and chicken broth and simmer, stirring, until thick, 4 to 5 minutes. Stir in the scallion greens and parsley. Cover and keep warm over low heat.
  3. Preheat a waffle iron to medium-high heat. Place 1 biscuit round into each section of your waffle iron, close gently (don’t push down) and cook until golden and cooked through, 3 to 4 minutes. Repeat with the remaining biscuits.
  4. Place 2 biscuits on each plate and top with the sausage gravy.

These were so delicious!!!!! I can’t wait to make them again!!!! Make sure to not set your waffle pan on to high of heat so your bisquits will cook all the way through. Heaven!

If your biscuits are not cooking inside and they’re burnt on the outside your temp is to high. Remember all appliances are different, you adjust as you go, you just don’t give up and rate this as this as poorly as the recipe is a good one. just made this morning and biscuits took about 5 min, the allspice was a little much for me, so next time I’ll use less or none at all. My thanks to “The Kitchen”.

This was awesome!! I used Cinnamon rolls in the can and frosted them when they were hot. Can’t wait to buy more and do it again. My family inhaled them!!!

It was pretty good. Just make sure to not use the grand biscuits. They take too long to cook and were a little burnt.
